YacT: Reasons not to get a Nissan 350Z

well my recomendation for a good first "sportier" car would be a subaru WRX or a Saabaru (WRX wagon rebodied by SAAB) the Saabaru is also stupid cheap right now with GM employe discount thier a hair under 20 grand for a pretty loaded one.

Scion TC ain't a bad deal ethier if Toyata has finally started offering the Dealer installed Superchargers

What you really want, my friend, is a 60s model Karmann Ghia, built up. Could score a nice one for less than half the cost of a 350Z.
Or wait, is that what I really want? 😛

i don't think i'd be happy with a car that small for 5-7 years... might want something a little more versatile.

how about a maxima? those V6s are consistently top rated

I suggest you get something with you do go around town. How about an Acura RSX? Its more practical for less money.

350Z is a bit heavy for a sports car plus it is borrowing the designs and parts from other Nissan's vehicles <not just my opinion, Car and Driver had an article about it a few months ago>.

I know a lot of reasons to get one now I need some reasons not to. Best I've come up with so far are:

It's a two seater.
It's kinda expensive.
No storage space.
I'll put my eye out.

Also looking at the RX-8, the Mazda 6s, Scion Tc, and the Acura TSX.
...everyone hate the 350z...hopefully, my G35 is not in that category. I have a Ford Expediton if I need some haulin to do.🙂

My friends both have a 350Z turbo and a 350Z supercharger.

The supercharger runs 12.3 and it is an automatic
The turbo runs low 11s

Great cars. Lots of attention

It handles great.

Best reason: Its a Nissan

You're a tool.

It's got transmission problems and wheel wear problems due to the differential.

Awww sorry if I hurt your feelings. But that doesn't change the fact that I am right.

I don't know if you're purposely flame baiting, but:

a) Generaly speaking, Nissan is right behind Toyota/Honda as far as reliability goes.
b) What you stated is an opinion, which does not have a right or wrong. Had you stated something that had any sort of concrete detail then you can make that claim.
c) Your childish response doesn't help your credibility any.

So far we have brand, poor handling, and competitor for the win. Also whatever I get will be have an automatic transmission. Yes, I will hand in my man card now. 🙁

All I need is a car to zip around town in. I live 200ft from campus and 1/4mi from downtown. Whatever I end up with will be it for the next 5-7 years unless I trade it some time down the line. I'm also half way through college.

4dr civic. DO NOT buy a performance ANYTHING if you're gonna put like 5 miles on it every day in traffic. What the hell is wrong with you?

That's disgusting.. seriously get a manual transmission for a sports car.

a)I will never dispute the reliability of Honda or Toyota, however I have known very few people who have gone longer than a few years with a nissan without having some sort of major problem, or were otherwise unhappy with the automaker.
b) I may make that claim without diving into any detailed explaination of the reasons I hold that opinion, because it is my right.
c) If I wanted to come across as credible on this particular topic I would have cared enough to make an informative reply.

And just FYI, I owned a 350Z (bought for my wife) for all of 3 weeks, until we brought it directly to acura for a trade (and a 3k loss, which was acceptable in this particular circumstance). So dispite my extremely short post and according to you, "childish responce", I do have a somewhat well founded reason for holding my opinions.

I think the 350z is exactly what it is supposed to be. It's 2 doors has 2 seats...it doesnt claim to be what it's not. When i think sports car i think of something RWD, 2 doors and 2 seats with good performance. Now performance is all relative to someone but i think the car stock is fine the way it is. U want a trunk? get a G35 coupe instead. I actually spend some time behind a 350z and enjoyed it. I prefer the interior of the Z instead of my G35 coupe.

IMO the perfect production sports car is the Lotus Elise....decently quick, agile, and brakes with the best of em

Track vs street is comparing apple to oranges...if yo're gonna cruise around just get the Z
