Does anyone have a 4-door car that has rear windows that only roll down half way? It's a safety precaution, I presume, but is there anyway to make them roll down all the way?

Well, most rear windows cannot go all the way down due to the fact that the door is too shallow, so the windows has nowhere to go. I don't know if they were designed that way as a safety precaution, though.

Huh? I've never seen a car with smaller doors in the back than in the front.. :p

I always thought it was a safety feature for kids.

in my 300m the back windows only go down half way. I don't care since I don't sit in the back of it. Though I have heard the back seat is rather comfortable.

look at the profile of a car, you will see on most that the rear door has the wheel well cut into it. Its very hard for a window to go into the wheel well. ;)

Pity, it'd bce nice if the windows went all the way down.

But then automakers would get sued by all the scum of the world because their Darwin children fell out of the car through the rear windows.

tempo they only go 1/2 way down. same in a VW fox, Sabb 9.3 viggen

its because teh rear wheel is there and there isnt room in the door for the window to go down all teh way

What about SUVs like the Suburban? Its windows go down all the way, because the doors are rectangular.

I always thought it's a safety thing for the kids sitting in the back too... never thought about the wheel well thing...

Never owned a vehicle with any windows that couldn't go all the way down. Calling it a safety feature is, uh...

If they're so worried about safety, they ought to quit selling these little peanut-mobiles in the first place!
