Alright, so I am in the market for a new ride, something under $25K. I would like people to describe how much the RSX-S sucks, and what I should get instead of it. Or, you can exalt the RSX-S and tell me why I should get it.

I just need something that is relatively quick, but also something that won't explode in 5 years. You should also know that I'm a definite Honda/Acura fanboy, and that it'll take a lot of convincing for me to buy from another manufacturer.

Ah, well maybe I should rephrase a bit and ask what other cars I should really be considering in addition to the RSX-S. I know the WRX is quick, but I also know STi version is over $30k, but what about the others... are they even worth it? I guess the Celica is out of the question... does anyone own a Focus SVT?

Well, the RSX is prolly one of the slowest cars in that class. But it is a Honda... meaning you have a gutless car that takes a judicious amount of winding on the rev counter to get it to move anywhere. Not to mention that if you shift it hard, you could end up with a bad misshift if they haven't addressed that problem.

The SRT4 is prolly the best deal right now performance-wise in the under 25K category for new cars. With an LSD and an underrated turbocharged engine... you'll make the RSX look like the slow POS it really is. You're basically paying a 5k premium because it's a Honda.

Oh, and the WRX isn't just slightly quicker... it's MUCH quicker and MUCH easier to make fast. You'll spend thousands on the RSX to get it to match a few hundred put in the WRX or SRT. You'll also have more room and it'll be nice in the winter with snow tires.

The Focus SVT is nice too, but the aftermarket for it will die fairly quickly as Ford will drop it from the lineup pretty soon. I've always felt it was a puny US replacement for the Focus RS anywho.

Drive the friggin WRX or GTI or SRT4. If you like torque, any of those cars at least won't feel completely gutless. If torque scares you, stick with your RSX. It's more gutless than the H22A Preludes... which had less HP.

Cramped torque-less wonder with massive FWD torque steer (God forbid you hit a bump under full throttle). No headroom, no legroom, road noise hell, slowest in its class. Only thing going for it is looks.

There's a douchebag that was in my high school that drives an RSX-S. He annoyed the hell out of me back then and, unfortunately, I still see him around town occasionally. In fact, he was at a DSM meet that I happened to be at over the weekend. I hate him. Don't be that douchebag...

Ridiculously stiff suspension on a Civic chassis. I hope you didn't plan on keeping your teeth! El-cheapo interior not deserving of the Acura badge. Might as well get the 04 Civic EX.. which can be had for $16k before taxes. Much better value. You can use the leftover money to tune the suspension.

for a daily driver the RSX-S isnt bad...the shifter is great! and it handles well for a FWD car...downside is that it has a motorcyle engine as its power.

i go for SRT-4 or RX8 or WRX

test drive ALL 4 cars and make up your mind...who cares what other people think...GO OUT THERE AND DRIVE EM ALL! take me with you!

If it's FWD then it sucks. If it has a big horsepower rating and a rather low torqure rating, then it sucks.

If you're refering to the video(s) circulating around the net, I've got two words: Driver Error. What could Honda do about that?

I say go for it if buying a $25K car won't make you poor. (My perspective: I'm 28 and will be making roughly $40k this year, but I'm going to school, and living by myself at the moment. I decided to spend less than $10,000 on my car and found a perfectly wonderful '01 Mazda Protege ES last year. I'm already six months ahead on the payments and I still have plenty of money for other fun stuff, like computers, an HDTV, and going out with friends or on a nice dinner+theater date. All that, and I still manage to keep a savings account!)

Wow look at all the pro racers here who are complaining about FWD and low torque... :p ...then hand them a RWD high torque car and all they do on a track is do donuts.

If you're going to take an RSX drag racing... thats the wrong car. Get a pony car. :p

Excuse me, torque-less at low to mid rpm. Once over 5k rpm though, you do get some torque and hp, but then the FWD torque steer comes in badly.
