YACT: Outerbanks

Ok so i am going on a long trip to the Outerbanks from Virginia. I was wondering what else if anything i can do to help my car out a little more ('92 V6 Toyota 4x4 Pickup).

I have already:
Replace Intake Manifold Gasket
Cleaned Intake Manifold (Carbon cleaner)
Replace Spark Plugs
Replace spark plug wires
Replace fuel filter
Checked all fluid levels that are easily accessible
Added BG-44K

I WILL be taking the car on the sand dunes as well.

Can anyone give me any tips on driving on the sand (4-Hi, and 4-Lo if i get stuck)?
Can anyone recommend anything else i can do to tune-up the car?

Oh and please do not drive on the sand dunes. Driving on the beach is OK, but not the sand dunes. Ask the locals where the beach access is.
Sand dunes are an extremely delicate environment. tires will rip out beach grass and other vegetation. without vegetation the dunes are more prone to wind and water erosion.
 
Be a man! Install a snorkel and drive in the waves. Only candy asses w/ small peni drive on the beach. Show no fear, face down the graveyard of the Atlantic, and get in the water. Kick stingray butt!

I wouldn't know that level of detail about the Outer Banks. Bald Head Islanad is actually not part of the Outer Banks chain, it is a single island farther south, off the coast of Southport.

It's a private resort island where the only gas powered vehicles are for construction purposes.
Just golf carts really is the way to go. 😀

Remember, 4WD is for getting un-stuck, even when you're off-roading. If you want to push it, you can use 4-Lo for getting out, but remember not to use 4-Lo to get in because then you can't get un-stuck.

Air-down your tires when you're in the sand too.

Thanks, i have spent a lot of time and money (Well for a 17 year old...18 in 2 days 🙂 🙂 🙂)

So stick to 4-Hi.

Also i have offroad oversized tires, and offroad shocks and struts. The tires are a 31.5x10.5x15 (IIRC) so do i still need to let the air down a little? Also will the offroad equipment that is in there help?

On the sand, you'll need to air down to 12psi. Yes, even with the offroad tires. What kind of tires are they exactly? Toyota 4x4's are among the most capable offroad rigs.. i've taken them to places i never thought possible.

12 PSI!!!! I have heard 20 and 15 if you get stuck, but never below 10.

As for the tires, they are BF Goodrich Radial Long Trail T/A's. I just got them in the middle of the winter so they are very new still.

You've never heard of airing down to 12PSI? Harcore guys go down to 5PSI or less with beadlock rims.

At 20PSI most radial tires won't show much more than a hint of deflation. You really need to go lower than that to be able to float over the sand.
