I like how they can can that kind of power out of that little displacement stock, and I know nissan makes a good car, but rotary can't produce the same amount of torque as a traditional engine. The only problem with fully awd cars is that unless things are really beefed up at the factory, things are bound to break. Some people want the handling of a fully awd car and some people want the outright straightline performance of a rwd car.

just becasue its AWD doesnt mean it outhandles a RWD... most of the worlds best handleing performance cars are all RWD...
including Formula1 and Indy cars.... and most other dedicated race cars... not just drag cars..

also to note the ridged rear axel 2005 mustang GT been kicking the crap outa AWD cars in just about every pro race this year..

so am I...
AWD is a gimmick... not a true performance option..

Erm, the main benefit of rear wheel drives is the handling...

Come live in a Canadian winter and say that.

Over FWD yea. Both AWD and RWD cars are built to handle. RWD can handle anything with a bit of tuning but most stock RWD cars would slide through the twisties.

the epitome of newbness

won't the super charger increase the low-end torque that rotaries tend to lack? i think the spuercharger is a better option that a turbo.

Personally I couldn't see an RX-7 with anything but a rotary engine. Its part of its character. If they made it with something other than a rotary engine, it'd be akin to Chevrolet making a mid-engine Corvette. As many of you know, Chevy wanted to do that, but people didn't want to buy it. I think the same thing would happen with the RX-7. Sure it might actually be a better car, but it loses its character.

I wonder how much the new RX7 will cannibalze sales of the RX8, or if they're even going to have the two coexist.

1st and 2nd gen RX7s were virtually bulletproof. The FD had issues with its turbos, apex seal and 400 miles of vacuum hoses.

RWD = :heart:
