while your oil might be able to last 8k, but IMO you still have to change your filter in 5k or so.

Universal averages show typical wear metals for an oil from this engine after a routine oil use of about 4,300 miles. Your oil was in use 7,298 miles and wear from the engine to be at or below average levels and in the correct balance to show normal mechanical parts inside. THe was Mobil 1 10w30 engine oil with no gas, moisture, or anti-freeze in it. The TBN read 5.9, showing plenty of active additive remaining (a TBN of 1.0 is low). This oil could have stayed in longer. Suggest 8,500-9,000 miles for your next interval.

Both the max's get mobile 1 every 7500 miles. I don't do a filter change in the middle. I suppose that I could at about 5k, and then jump the interval for the oil to 10k, but I really can't be bothered, so I just compromise 🙂

if i take the filter out with all that all in there, i would assume that the amout of oil that will spill out would be crazy?

or

the amount of oil in the filter is only the amount that was last pumped into it, and no more oil from the reservoir will come out?

The latter, since the oil sits in the oil pan, which is below the level of the filter. So you'll lose the oil from the filter and any passages to it and all that only.

Free collection kit from blackstone and then I think $20 per test.
