YACT... OBD II code i cant find the info. 96 Ford Mustang.

My friend has a 96 Mustang GT, that has the check ingine light.
I pulled the codes with teh scanner they were

P 0173 and P 0175
and P1443

I know 0173 and 175 are bank left and right running rich.. what is P1443.

By the way does a 96 mustang GT require premium? I thought it takes 87...

any help on what's wrong? by the way the banks are running rich!

that doesnt tell me anything, other than its an evap problem.. i saw that before.

We used to replace the evap sensor (purge flow) on those all the time. I think it's located near the gas tank on 'Stangs. Likely your problem.

Also likely NOT the cause of the O2 codes, but it's not impossible.....I'd replace the purge flow sensor first, reset it, and see if the other codes come back after a drive cycle.

i looked up teh chilton manual and it mentions it (a small blurb) under evaporative emmissions.. it says replace it, but doesnt say where it is. Lookign at one pic, it looks like its below the 'EGR" but i could be wrong. Oh well I am going to wait for quixfire to come on and say where it might be.

Hope its an easy fix that i can fix

P1443- Evaporative Emission Control System/Vacuum System/Purge Control Solenoid or Purge Control Valve fault.

Edit: Likely the charcoal canister or a hose leading to it.

It's the purge solenoid and yes it can cause an engine to run rich.
