Is that a joke? I drove one, a 10 year old Ford Escort is 10x better.

I highly doubt you drove a 2006 Sonata, they kick ass. and 235 horsepower

Obviously you haven't been keeping up with the thread.

NOT the Sonata that's <$20k and not the one that gets good gas millage. If I wanted a car with 235HP I sure as hell wouldn't be buying a Sonata.

Test drove the '06 Civic sedan. Not bad considering it gets 30/40 and only has a 1.8L engine. It actually gets better miliage with an automatic. Surprisingly the automatice was 5-speed too.

The LX sedan would be about $17k all told. There were no coupes to drive so I'm not sure whether I should wait or not.

Still, for that price I'd rather have an Eclipse or Impreza, but what with the price of gas...

Yes, well, not a bad choice, the '06 is a little better than the '05. I would prefer the 5-Door but you have to get the 2.3L engine with it. That being the case I'd be better off with the Impreza- Same price, more hp, same millage, and 4WD.

Seems like you keep coming back to the Impreza over and over. I say you already found your car, just need to get it now. :)

Yah, I know, but the '06 doesn't have side curtain airbags and only gets 23/28mpg.:(

Impreza 2.5i Sport Wagon.

I do like that the engine is even better than last year's, it 173hp.

I also keep reading that they are seriously revamping the car for next year. Unfortunately I can't make it. I'm surprised my current car made it this long.

RSX (base or Type S) FTW! Last year too to hoot. 07' has acura phasing out the RSX in favor of a TSX Coupe.

06' Civic SI is rocking too. I love high revving engines. ;p good mileage too for both RSX/CIVIC

maybe, but they take premium, at least the Civic Si does.

how about a slightly used altima 3.5SE. interior is also sub-par... but you can easily find one under $20k... and think of the 3.5L!!!!

I test drove the Civic Sedan today, and while it's a great car the handbrake is in a very awkward position- it's right in the center and my right knee jutts into it hard. Damn. Once the coupes come in, if it's the same deal it looks like the Impreza will be it.

Drove the '06 Impreza today too, nice car, drives much better than the Civic.

nothing beats a civic that I've ever heard of for cost effectiveness. The honda insight and toyota prius are worth doing the math to compare, but the civic is probably the best deal.
