Been looking for a year now. What with the price of gas being so high my selections have narrowed. Once when a small SUV like the Honda CR-V or a 4WD Subaru Impreza might have been preferable for the better driving experience and 4WD, 22/28mpg just won't cut it.

Right now I am looking at a few model, including the '06 Civic, Mazda3, Spectra5 etc. Any suggestions?

in about a minute, everyone is gonna come in here saying mazda 3.. it's a cool car.. but i'd go for the 06 civic

tho i live literally under the shadow of greylock, id reccomend the impreza.
my 98 goes like a bastard in the snow.

All good suggestions so far.

The '06 Sonata is not right for me. Not the type of car a bachelor wants.

The '06 Impreza has a bigger engine with more HP. I would LOVE to get this the Sport Wagon, but it gets relatively low gas milage compared to the Civic/Mazda3.

None of the Honda dealers have ;06 Civic Coupes yet, just sedans. Don't know if I'd want a coupe, I have back problems. We'll see.

Check out the Chevy Cobalt. Much nicer then peopel think and much cheaper then most other cars with the employee pricing right now.

I'm pretty sure gm employee pricing is over now, and cobalt doesn't get very good gas mileage considering how small it is.

30 mpg isn't good and since when the hell is it at 4000 + lbs, its rated at 3,208 lbs

You should have no problem getting a base for under $20K.

This will be my next car too...a used one of course.

Hyundai Tiburon, good bachelor car, fun to drive, GREAT warranty, I get 30+mpg highway, and it looks slick.


I know dealerships around here are letting the 2005 or 2006 Tiburons with leather , V6 engine GT or SE with full options go for 17 or 18k.
