YACT - Need new tires -V6 mustang - buy local

My girlfriend needs new tires for her mustang, I was hoping we could wait it out and order online, but they are mostly all bald and one of them died last night with some tread seperation.

Any good deals in major stores?

Can anyone recommend a good tire for this car?

I've heard some places will pricematch or come close to tirerack prices, any clue which stores and how to do it?

Do you have a Costco membership?

Walmart has good prices and a good puncture warranty. Tirerack's prices aren't spectacular when you figure in the price of shipping (and mounting - $10 at Walmart, free at Costco, more expensive anyplace that would mount Tirerack tires for you)

I like BF Goodrich Traction T/A, but they're a little expensive.

I use yokohoma db2's on my mustang v6 and I LOVE THEM. I think they're 308+shipping+mounting from tirerack.com.... she can wait a few days. It would be worth it for these tires :beer:

Amazing tire, rated #1 by Comsumer Reports magazine, and damn cheap too.

Most local tires stores MAY have to order it though.

A friend of mine runs a Goodyear Tire and Auto service center, has these on his BMW and loves them. He has over 50k on them, and they still have some tread left. I out a set on my 92 Caddy Eldorado TCm and they are some of the quietest tires 've had.

They have a high treadwear rating (420), and are rated A for traction and temperature.

I found the best price online, found a local store that would order them, and negotiated a fair price.

Costco currently has $60 off BF Goodrich and Michelin tires (that'll cover the $45 membership fee if you don't have one already) and their prices look comparable to or LESS than Tirerack's prices when you consider shipping and installation.

I found that if you just call a local "tire rack preferred" installer, and tell them what tires you are looking at, they will beat tirerack's prices.

the tirerack preferred installer here (40243) is a Goodyear center - you think they will come down any or should I look at an independent store on the list?

Go to a local Firestone store and get a set of Bridgestone Potenza G009's. They are great all-around all-season tires that aren't too aggressive or noisy. I have them on my Mark VIII and they've worn very well. Should last 45,000-50,000 miles. If you want something that is still decent but will last a little longer, look at the Bridgestone Turanza LS-T (not to be confused with the LS-H, LS-V, or LS-Z, all of which are 40,000 mile tires) which should last 75,000+ miles.

I have always had great luck with Bridgestones and have not had a set of all-season Bridgestones last fewer than 50,000 miles.
