YACT-Need machanic adivice

OK, I looked at another 240SX today. it was a 92 fastback with 94K miles. only prob i could see was that there was a exhaust leak from right after the cat, and some fluid on the drive shaft. I think the fluid was just condensation from the exhaust leak, since it was right under the drive shaft.

I'm no mechanical guru, so anyone care to confirm my beliefs, or offer an opinion?

Spanks. Me really like this car and want to get it(if i get financed.) blew my wad at x-mas.
OH, if anyone is in dallas, i know where you can get a 69-70 Chevell in good condition.

Could have been out of the rear differential. Could you tell if it was oil? The rear diff seal isn't too terrible of a job to do I think.

it was like water. I don't think it was from the rear diff, where this all was happening was from almost dead center of the car.

Hmm, then the exhaust is definite possibility. Hope it isn't gas and/or brake fluid

I would NEVER buy a used "sports car". You might as well assume every single part of the drive train has been beat. If I were buying an old classic muscle car, I'd count on rebuilding the entire drive train from front to back. Not sure that would be a very practical way to go on an import.

well one, the car had one owner, and old lady that traded it in and got a new Volkswagen, so i'm not too worried about that aspect. this liquid thing is the only thing that worries me. I did find a friend that will go look at it tomorrow, he knows more about cars than i do.

Well this is gonna be a weekend car, and once it's paid off in a year, it will get all kinds of rebuilds. I plan on, new flywheel, CAI intake, header, belts, Timing chain will be changed on my next paycheck if they don't have records of it being changed. It has new tires. less than 1000 miles on them. Interior is perfect. no stains, no cracks. Only thing i need to check is the flip up head lights.

I've seen the title, they lady's name was Mildred, not many young'uns with that name.

My mom is listed in her high school year book with the nick "Hot Rod", which was well deserved from what I hear. My guess is ole Mildred had a son with bad credit due to too many traffic ticket fines. He talked his mommy into this car, because it was highly rated in Consumer Reports or some such. Maybe her husband was a lead foot. It's just NOT likely that car was purchased as a grocery getter. All my cars are registered to my wife, because she's the one who gets the E-Checks and plates. Just easier that way. If somebody assumes a car with her name on the title was only driven by her, they would be VERY mistaken!
