It's too bad you can't go up just a bit more for the Pilot... I love this vehicle! 🙂

But with your options I think the choice is simple: RAV4

Saturn Vue Redline - 250HP Honda V6 AWD & good looks

Jeep Liberty - for the manly touch

And if you want something larger:

2006 Ford Explorer

What do you plan on doing with this SUV? Actual off-roading, or will it never leave the highway? That makes a big difference in what you might want to buy.

If you're actually using it what it was intended for, I'd go with an Xterra - the new model just won SUV of the year from Motor Trend (for what that's worth). Otherwise, save (some) gas and just get a CRV or a RAV4

No off roading, just carring stuff, road trips. Mainly for space . Nothing extreme.

**cough** get a minivan **cough**

So any bad reputation for landrovers?

Yeah, they suck reliability wise.

I'd get a Forester XT. You don't need an SUV. You need a wagon or minivan as others mentioned.

Minivans have a ton of interior space. My folks have a standard (non-extended) Chevy Venture minivan. We fit 6 adults plus my toddler in a big carseat plus luggage for a long weekend in the van. Not uncomfortable either. We've also carried oversized couches, tons of lumber, etc. Its an easy vehicle to drive, not terrible on gas, etc.

Every SUV I've ridden in and looked at cannot compare to a minivan for people and cargo moving capacity. Sure a minivan isn't trendy, but personally, I don't care. I'm married with kids... far beyond trendy at this point. 🙂

Freelander. It's based on the Escape, which has very good press.
