YACT: Need a new truck - have to sell Turbovan

It served valiently from 1977 to late 2003. It all ended a few hours ago in a tragic event as I parked it in it's normal spot. It backfired twice - totally normal. Then 8 VERY loud bangs from under the hood, followed by a total loss of power and smoke. Eight very cracked cylinders. Since the overall value of the truck is $20, it isn't worth it to replace the whole engine. It's worth a lot more in scrap metal.

However, we are now in the position where we need another truck. 3/4 ton or larger, has to be 4WD. To cover the additional expense of buying one, another vehicle has to go. The Turbovan is the only one with much resale value to speak of - a mere $970 according to KBB. The Vandura has a KBB value of $910, but it SHOULD be higher due to the fact that KBB doesn't take into account most of the customization done to it. But, unfortunately, the Vandura can't go - we're often in a situation where 7 people need to be comfortably moved in a single vehicle. Turbovan may seat 7, but it ain't comfortable for the 5 in back. The sale of the Buick is also pending, which will bring in about $2k.

So, does anyone know where I can get an older (Mid-90's) 4WD Ford F-250/350/F-Series for about $5k?

my boss is thinking of selling his...I believe its around a '95...I can check with him on friday

1993 Ford F-350 Crew Cab XL 7.3L Turbodiesel 4WD in fair condition (We're just gonna bust it's nuts anyway). KBB $6k. Now I just have to find one for sale at blue book...

No way in hell you could find a truck like that for $5k around here no matter what KBB says unless the truck has been rolled.

Turbo Dodge would be a good place to try and sale the van. Unless its in near perfect shape you will have trouble getting $900 out of it. Them people is cheap 🙂.
