How good of a deal is he getting? How reliable is the 4 cylinder chevy puts in the S-10?

The deal is pretty much done, I'm just curious whether or not he got screwed

Personally, I'd go with the 4.3 six cylinder...and with the current incentives and what not, I'm sure you can get it for about the same.

From what I'm seeing...you can't even buy a 2WD 6 cylinder anymore 😕

Looks like you can do the 6cyl 4WD for about 16k. It will have a MUCH higher resale value than the 4cyl RWD one if that is of importance.

He is looking to use this for both commuting and to haul stuff around in for home improvement projects. I think fuel economy is what he is looking for. As far as 4WD, he isnt planning on taking this thing offroad in anything but mild terrain

I tried getting him to go for the 6 cylinder, but he seems sort of set on the 4 for fuel economy and less $$, apparently he is getting $500 that he couldnt get off if it was not the 4 banger

What kind of climate do you guys live in? 2WD pickup's are pretty much the most useless vehicles on the road in the winter time.

The 4-cyl engine gets great mileage, plus you still get to have a truck bed to haul stuff with.

I live in Ohio, but I'm used my grandfathers 2WD S-10 (with the 2.5L engine) all the time, including right after heavy snowstorms, with no problems if you know your vehicle and what you are doing with it.

Not with some snow tires and about 750 lbs of lead in the back 😀 😉.

I had a 2wd Ranger when i was going to school in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (think Canada) and it was great in the snow.
