heh, try being my friend. i think he lost count of how many points he has.....

back in the day (when i was 16), statefarm wanted 2200/yr for me driving an 85 maxima wagon. i'm still under my parents name now, so my insurance isn't bad.

I'd call AAA they have a Insurance locater that gets you the cheapest rate. Get crappy insurance like safe auto or Gieco until you are 25yo.

Safe Auto quoted me $350 or so on my own policy... sucks.

There is this old beater car across town I saw for $250. I wonder if I bought it and claimed it as my daily driver and the civic as my recreational vehicle or whatever I could get a cheap rate.

I am also a 20 year old male. I pay 210 a month for the car loan and 310 a month for insurance.... So I pay more for insurance then I do for the car itself. It is hardly worth having insurance in NJ anymore except that it is the law.

I still think woman are the worst drivers though...

Boohoo. I love when people bitch about the insurance they pay in NJ. If it is that bad, then freaking move.

Boo hoo then move? Yes, maybe I'll go live out in Kentucky like you and make 7 dollars a hour cleaning toilets.

You have no logic, please refrain from posting .

Jerk! I live in Kentucky =) But I agree he shouldn't tell you to move out. If people just got up and left instead of bitching about price gouging or slavery or anything, people/business would be walking all over everyone. BTW, I make $11/hr in Kentucky, in a call center, I'm not sure what the toilet guy makes =)

LOL he probly makes more then you 😉

But as a few stated before it all depends on were you live, hell I live out in the middle of BF Eqypt, Calif and still pay 140.00 a month on 2 cars one a 02 Mazda and the other a 99 S-10 both with full coverage and my Wife just turned
25 and I am 30 and we both have clean records and still find this kinda high.

But what really butters my toast though is her parents 01 Ford Taurus, 03 Ford Taurus, 98 HD F350, 03 40' Motor Home
full coverage on all and they pay 390 a month.

On the beater yes, but when you add the Civic back on the total quote will be higher than the civic alone. Guaranteed.

Geico loves doing business in NY. Give them a call for NJ.

Bwahahahaha!!! I hate to laugh so loud, but I pay $58/month on a 2002 Dodge Stratus ES here in Kansas. I used to pay over $120/month until I turned 25 and that ticket I got dropped off my record. I can't complain about my rates, although I still think insurance is bullshit.

tell that to the lawyers who sue and make 10-100's millions in compensation from them every year. Insurers are not even making as much as they used to make just are paying out more the money has to come from somewhere. Not that I am on their side but it is the truth.

Well, NJ is even worse than NY... nearly all the big companies like State Farm and methinks AllState also are pulling out. Geico has never been in NJ, they say they're not even going to try.

Insurance companies in my area LOVE to jack up your rate... someone else hits you and you aren't at fault, then you have your premiums go up. Accident points and now you've entered the "accident prone" zone. Even if you had no way of avoiding the accident, the insurance company always will raise your premiums. Points on the license beyond 2pts always increases premiums too.

My family's insurance is quite high for liability only because of my dad's crappy driving. VERY accident prone though lately he's been able to avoid accidents since driving a slow SUV... I keep reminding him, "It's a FRIGGIN TRUCK, not a sports car!!!" Of course, he's not coming anywhere near my car keys... I don't want to own a wrecked DSM.

i'm 30... and my insurance dropped massively....
i went from $1200/6mo for my Matrix to $700/6mo for my 4Runner 😀

Let them give you a Pinto and see what you say 😛 or can you afford one with/out a penny of their $

man that sucks big time. I just got a new car and got the insurance under my gf's name. We're both 22, I had some tickets (pretty bad ones) but they're from +3 yrs ago. My gf is a new driver who's never had insurance before. my 98 stratus with abs costs $1300/yr for liability. w00t.

it's all partially the car is a new car with full coverage.... but it's still kind of high for one point,... you should be getting at least multi-car discount w/ ur dad though. There are a lot of other discounts out there, u just have to find out what you qualify for.

on the other hand, i have 0 points, 20 yrs old, clean record, drive a sports car, liability only, and i pay 1100/yr

and i can't believe you thought about min liability on an 93 rx7!!! sorry, two of my friends just got theirs broken into. one got tore the fvck up, the other got a broken window, stolen power fc, stolen front mount intercooler, intakes, and the interior cut up. thank goodness for insurance.

Hello, my dad makes me write him a check every three months for $470 for car insurance and he told me he is cutting a lot off the top as well... so I did a little investigation. I sent an e-mail to my insurance company and asked what my annual premium is:

$2950 ... I am a 20 year old male with one 5mph speeding ticket in November of '01. This is for full coverage on a '02 Civic with front/side airbags. I also asked for quotes on different types of vehicles and this is how she responded:

> 1. 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 4 door= $3645 annual premium
> 2. 1998 Subaru Forrester L 4 door.=$4068 annual premium
> 3. 1997 Ford Mustang GT coupe.=$4716 annual premium
> 4. 1993 Mazda RX-7 Twin Turbo coupe=$4561 annual premium (you may want to consider liability only on this vehicle)
> 5. 1995 Toyota Tercel 4 door.=$3383 annual premium
> 6. 1999 VW Jetta TDI 4 door.=$4034 annual premium

This seems extremely freakin high considering I am under my fathers insurance and only have one speeding, and then she tells me this:

"There is an accident point being charged to this vehicle. I realize that you were not the one who had the accident but when someone in household has an accident the points are charged to the two highest rated vehicles. Currently one of those vehicles is yours."

Wonderful! She did also say that when I turn 21 in three months my insurance should be cut in half, but I won't see the price drop until March of 2004, when the policy renews. I really think I should start my own policy somewhere else considering that my fiancee (20 year old female) who drives the same car as me, as well as having 1 accident and 1 ticket on her report, pays *$1200* a year for full coverage.

this seems to be the big problem.

I feel like my insurance is high. Here are my stats:

Age: 25 (June 1978)
Car: 2000 Hyundai Tiburon
City, State: Baton Rouge, LA
Years driving: 10
# Tickets: 0
# At-Fault Accidents: 0
# Not-At-Fault Accidents: 1 (Feb 2000)

Price: $998/6 months.

Before I turned 25, I was paying $1300/6 months. Luckily, I was under my dad's policy up until last month. If I was 24 now and had to pay insurance, it would be almost $2000.

There are several things that need to be done to get these rates down:

1. Increase driving age to 18 (Learner's Permit at 17). I feel that I was too young to be driving at 15 or 16.
2. Increase fines for excessive speeding and wreckless driving.
3. Increase penalties for DUI/DWI. You should lose your license the first time you are caught driving under the influence.
3. Make the requirements tougher in order to recieve a license. Just because this is America, you are not guaranteed that you can drive a car.
4. Cell phone usage needs to stop ASAP.

Another thing that PISSES me off are the people that drive in excess of 75 MPH on the interstate. In Baton Rouge, the speed limit is 60 MPH on all 3 interstate systems. People feel the need to drive as fast as possible and bob-and-weave through the traffic to save a whole 2 minutes, if that much, on their drive.

Yes, move to hell please. I don't live in Kentucky and my location is clearly marked in my profile. Is the ability to read necessary for your profession? I guess not. My logic was sound. Don't bitch when it is where you CHOSE to live. If it is bad, then move. If not and you can deal with it, put the KY back on your ass. Sounds like you are getting fvcked and you seem to enjoy it.
