It's not all day. You get 2 runs. Lame.

You get to do some basic track skills exercises, before your runs, but nothing too fun. And you get to check out some Mazda cars, even drive a few around a little.

Not worth $40. Go to your dealer and take one out for a test drive. Watch the expression on the salesdroid on your ridealong.

Yep. Rent went to both the Mazda 6 and Mazda 3 testings here in Dallas. Said he wasn't impressed by the 3 at all.

Neither this years or last years event was groundbreaking, but it was fun enough to justify going.

I placed 24th in my class, which isn't horrible (I'm not used to driving compacts). Appearantly I coned on my first run, otherwise I would have been in the top 10 :|

The 3 just didn't do much for me. Too much of a wind up toy. Felt like it wouldn't be easy to drive everyday. But then again, it was an auto. I'm sure a manual would have been much more responsive. (and yes, I used the manumatic mode)

A better way to put it is that the majority of US are close to one of THEM...

You have to use an automatic, too, IIRC....

bauahahaha...that's cold! :p

ugh... it's AUTOCROSSING, you stay in 2nd gear the whole time (except after launching in first). The cars have the manumatic shifter so you can lock the gear.

Even the PRO driver stayed in second the entire course.

I went this year, to SF which was the first stop... here's the thread.

I got the invitation a couple of weeks ago for the event here in Houston. Not going, though, don't have time.

i went, it was fun... the 3 was not impressive... had little go... brakes were very sensitive and grabbed very abruptly... there was very little pedal feel... it was like on and then off.... but the best part was the free part... at the end of the day, my friend and i went out on the test drive track w/ the 6spd rx8... and basically waited a lil bit and then carved up the course... they said they were going to kick us out, but it was at the end of the day... so if they kicked us out... who gives a rats a$s.... hehehe

rx8 was an amazing drive... brakes felt great, turning input and response were great... powerband was smooth, transmission shifted easily, etc... the car is very balanced and very well built. :)
