YACT: Mazda Protege5

What do you kids think of this car? Any one own/driven it? Too much rice?

A good friend of mine has one, and i've driven it on numerous occasions. I found it to have very good driving manners, but a drag racer it is not. Aside from that and the fact that it turns some pretty high revs in 5th on the highway, the car seems very well put together and you get a LOT of value for your money.

My local Mazda dealer has one in the MP3 blue and it looks awesome.

This is one of the cars I was considering before I got mine

Love the way it looks...love the way it handles...love how I would be able to fit a whole lot more in the trunk than just two golf bags...don't much care for the 130 horses it comes with stock...

Why didn't Mazdaspeed make their zippy new car based on the Protege5? Sporty hatches seem to be the wave of the future

My friend just got one....I haven't talked to him since he got it but with the other options he was considering (there was a lot) it must've made a good impression on him when he drove it.

Yeah...the 130 would be quite a step down from the 195 or so in my Intrigue... Car looks nice though. I'd get the blue, black or silver, probably. Is the interior made well?

Actually, i would bet their their acceleration is pretty much the same. The Intrigue would have more power at highway speeds.

Just get the yellow...you know you want it 🙂

I like the blue best...the black and silver are sorta boring.

Interior's nice...a little on the cheap side but I wasn't expecting much out of it...

Uh...an S2000...

From your link, Edmunds has got the TMV at $16,164...

Meh...for a bit more, I'd just get a V6 Tiburon

Uh...an S2000...

From your link, Edmunds has got the TMV at $16,164...

Meh...for a bit more, I'd just get a V6 Tiburon

How the hell do you cross shop an S2000 and a Protege5??

Anyway, I'd have a hard time choosing between the Protege5 and the Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix

(1) Cross-shopped Protege5 w/base RSX (Also Tiburon, SE-R)
(2) Got tired of base RSX, got new job => wanted to upgrade to Type S
(3) Found a used S2000 for the same price as new Type S
(4) Bought S2000

Yesterday I took her up to Marin and got some great shots of the car w/the Golden Gate bridge in the background 🙂 but took it w/a film camera so it'll be a few days before I have them ready to post. Also, I just got some Zaino in the mail today so I can't wait to slap it on there

Stories...uh...nothing yet as I don't street race and mainly do my fun drives where there's no other cars i.e. Marin by the GG bridge 🙂...I'll tell you what though--guys who drive Miatas love to rev on me and give me dirty looks. I just smile back 🙂
