YACT: Mazda 3i or Civic Si or RSX or Impreza

Looking for a car to replace my old Civic DX.
< $15,000 <35,000 miles

Civic Si
Pro:
Able to get that price
I personally like the size/shape
Con:
Insurance a tad higher cuz Civics get stolen more often.
Hard to find one that some kid did not drive the engine really hard

Acura RSX
Pro:
Great overall car
Con:
A tad harder to get at that price

Mazda 3i
Pro:
Can purchase new
Very nice interior
Con:
Don't 100% trust reliability of Mazda

Subaru Impreza RS
Pro:
AWD if I ever moved to a cold place
Great AC/Heater
Con:
Bland interior
Cannot get at price specified.

Any suggestions or opinions welcomed

The Mazda 3i is my pick of that list. Well, the RSX really is, but I doubt you can find one at the right price...

edit: set up a poll...

Well, since you will not find any of these cars except the 3i at that price unless its beat to hell, that would be your best choice.

Mazda 3i, for sure. I was just looking at a dealer, and they had a few 2004 models with 10k - 15k miles on them for $13k- $15k.

i'm guessing he means used

I actually said RSX, not TSX and yes the TSX is way out of the price range. And yes the Si is a hatchback now. I personally like them but not many people here on ATOT do it seems.

Subaru Impreza RS

? heh.

anyway, shouldn't you want something other than a Civic for your next car? for that matter I would suggest the Mazda3i over the Si. and i highly doubt you can get an RSX at that price. and why not get the older Impreza RS? It will definitely go over 35k miles, but you will get the BEST LOOKING one.

Yeah I would rather get something other than a Civic...but unfortunately I am still a poor student...grad...but still a poor one. Civic is a guaranteed buy at that price and I know it is reliable. As for looks I personally think the Mazda 3i is the best looking of all of 'em. And as for the Subaru...they handle great but the inability to get a low price turns me off on it a tad.

I have the Mazda 6s, was the first person in Staten Island (part of NYC) to have one. Get the 3, trust me. After about 1500 miles, that engine opens up and it's a whole new car. And frankly, I'm jealous the 3 gets HIDs and DVD nav and I had to put mine in aftermarket (the nav, at least).

Come on. People here aren't that dumb. NYC is the center of the world. If someone doesn't know where Staten Island is then they don't belong on the intarweb. And besides, Staten Island should really be part of NJ :Q

I bought a 3s little over a month ago - love it and have no regrets. But..i dont think you'll be bale to get an i for <15K?

No brainer: acura or subaru. The mazda would be third, and the civic would be a turd. It's overpriced and underpowered sh*te. I've not driven an acura...hmm, in fact I've never driven a single acura, so I'd need to drive it. I do like subies though. In Arizona, however, the AWD is really not going to serve you very often. Mazda is ok, but not as nice as a subie or acura.

If you can find one for the money, the RSX easily

The 3 would be my next choice, make sure you get the 2.3 though 🙂

Actually that was useful clarification for me. I'm from west coast so I really don't know much about anything over on the east. If you had told me that Staten Island was in Jersey or Vermont or Maryland I probably would have believed you 🙂

The Si is ok but way too watered down compared to the Euro Civic Type-R.
