Manual in a sports car is for people who CAN drive that sports car.
Auto in a sports car is for old men who drive their new 911 or C6 5-10 below the speed limit.
Manual is for people who enjoy control over there car, want their transmission to last longer, and prefer better control over their gas mileage.
Auto is for everyone else, which is most everyone.
Yeah, I know. I was just pointing out that using MPG or performance to say a manual is uber-1337 compared to an auto is not really true.Originally posted by: mercanucaribe

Really depends on your driving style and what kind of driving (city vs. highway) that you do. Manual's have a slight edge in performance and fuel economy, but that difference with modern automatics is very small.
You don't get a manual for the 5% increase in straight line performance and fuel economy. You get a manual to have control over what gear you're in, and for the fun of shifting your own. It also puts some extra points on your man card.

It really depends on your commute. If it's easy going freeway where you'll be maintaining the same speed for long periods of time, then get a stick. If you're going to be stopping at stop lights all the time because traffic is backed up, get an auto.
I've only owned stick shift cars. I love them, because they make me pay alot more attention to what I'm doing when I drive. But in heavy traffic it's a major pain to keep stopping and starting. It's not hard, it's just really annoying.

Could I learn? Probably but I'd need to find a beater.
Do I want to? Not really.
I really don't see what the problem is. As long as it gets you from point a->b what's it matter whether it's a manual or an auto.

Why waste money on a RWD sports car, then?
