yeah yeah i just got a new (to me car)... but im already looking at my options to upgrade. I got a really good deal on the one I've got now (6K under kbb), so I'd rather pull the money out of it before it depreciates... so probably sell it early summer (2007)

I'm looking to drop ~35K tops, so I should be able to find either m3 or 911.
 
I would take a Porsche 911 (997) any day of the week over an M3. Actually, I would take an Audi RS4 over both of them I think.

He's talking about used ones, so it would be a 996. I'd still take carrera of the M3, it's rarer and significantly more fun to drive.
 
M3

Has 2 useful backseats and a better boot and drives well also.

Of course if you didn't need the back seats or the boot space then I'd be looking at an other car.

um, the 911 has backseats, you fools. and yes, you can fit people back there. but no, they aren't very comfortable, especially since they can get hot during high-performance driving.

anyway, 911, no contest.

Why would anybody driving a sports coupe want more than 2 people sitting in the car while they're driving? Porsche > BMW
 
To OP: were you the one that i told you to get the P-car on the "why is a bmw so appealing" thread?

anyway, if this is your weekend car, go with the 911. If you'll be driving all week long in this car, or that this will be your only car, go with the m3. If you go for a 996, go for years after 01. For m3, any year is good except for 01s.
Even with the backseat in the 911, it is still not as practical as a m3 would be.

Bmw appealing thread? I have no clue, I've never owned a BMW before.

i drive maybe 10 miles a week... i take the train to manhattan to work, so car would be for fun and groceries and stuff of that sort. Every now and then I do drive people around, but that's not really much of a concen. The CLK has a dinky back seat too and I've fit 4 people in theback before.

What's wrong with '99 carreras? I don't think I'd want to spend 40+ grand on a car quite yet.
 
used S4? IIRC the last RS4 never made it to the states, so people bought S4's and upgraded them to RS4's (previous gen was a TT V6). nothin like twin turbos, a guy on my campus has an S4 and it is gorgeous 😀
