Occasionally I have little drag races at a stop light just for fun. It is great to shutdown those ricers.

Any way, today when I stopped at a light imagine my surprise to see a 1986-87 Buick Grand National pull up beside me. I drive a mostly stock 1987 Ford Crown Vic.

My car is fast, but it ain't no racecar.

When the light turned green we both launched as hard as we could. I was doing pretty good for the first 100 feet or so. Then he just went by me like I slammed on the brakes. So I let off the gas and tried to recover my dignity.

And that is the story of how I was pwned!

The Grand National was pretty sweet... silly amounts of torque available at very low RPMs (and even more power in the GNX!). Definitely a "sleeper" that will surprise many people.

never heard a grand national before......was it an old guy? i get burned constantly by old people in big boats that are buff.........they only have two things they do to drive though, either 100% brake or 100% gas.......wonderful

my aunt (50 sum) once burned sum teen, she was in a vette (my uncle works for gm thus he gets cars for free, but has to buy 1 a year) and at a stop light the kid wanted to drag, she beat him off the line, and in every way.

I would have just asked the guy to floor it so you could have a) heard the engine/exhaust b) just seen how fast he went.
