Go get a quote to have it fixed.... then simply ask the guys who borrowed it to pay for it.

If they give you sh!t about it. Send them registered mail containing the quote, pics of the damage, a description of the situation, and again request they pay for it.

They'll belly up to the bar.

Well on the one hand, it is a pickup truck. Did you really expect to keep it in shiny new condition forever? (assuming you use it for what pick up trucks are meant to be used for) Cars are not investments for this reason. . .they wear out and depreciate rapidly. That is why I will never buy an expensive car or get too bent out of shape when mine gets a little dinged up. On the other hand, it sucks that you didn't get to scratch it up yourself but had somebody, supposedly a "friend", do it for you and the guy didn't mention it or apologize when he brought back the truck. But keep a cool head. . .maybe somebody else did it when he wasn't looking and he honestly didn't see it happen and doesn't know about it. Flying off the handle and jumping to conclusions isn't going to help anything. Check the grill to see if you can find any evidence that it has some of your trucks paint on it first. Build up some evidence and then lead him into a line of questioning where he ends up incriminating himself before you just pop out first with "did you F up my truck?" Gotta play it tactfully.
 
I know I would feel like crap if I scratched a vehicle that wasn't mine. I'd own up to what happened and tell the owner. I would ask the guy and see what he does.

hahahahah this made me raf.

It's been shiny and new for 8 years ... so yes, I expected it to continue to be shiny and sh!t through the weekend.

I don't get bend out of shape over dings and scratches. This was abuse, negligence, and lack of respect.

There's a grease puddle in my truck. They leaned the grill over. Plain as day.

I won't go off the handle ... I'm gonna be tactful ... let's just hope they see my way.

Thanks for playing, but most people I know who use their trucks as trucks (myself included) don't generally haul cargo on the outside of the bed where it would scratch exterior paint. I can certainly see that attitude for inside the cargo area - but fenders/body panels? :disgust:

8 years huh? well that's a pretty good run. But something was bound to happen like this sooner or later. That's all I was saying.
 
it's a truck, when i haul heavy ass servers... i expect stuff like this, however, you are the only person who can scratch up your own truck , pretty much.... so chew them out.
 
They knew about the damage and were waiting for me to say something.

They're going to take care of it, they were just bitches and were hoping I wouldn't notice, I guess ... @@ Standup guys ... when called out ... *sigh*

I'm going to take it to the body shop for an estimate ...
