Changing my oil now,

My wife is inisting that I use K&N filter over the the Fram. I don't know if I should listen to her even thou she's a chemist who run oil tests for an oil additive company. ;)

I know people rips on Fram parts, but is K&N really any better than Fram? It is a PITA to look for the right filter because Advance autoparts only have Fram books and I have to look at every K&N box for the Fram part conversion. I could ask the guy at the counter, but I'm anti-social.

There is some "high end" fram filter that comes in what looks like a pringles can. I think it might be called the fram x2 or some such nonsense? Anyway it is $$ but I did some reading and they seemed to get very good reviews. I don't drive many miles on my 2nd car, so I tend to wait longer between oil changes and this seemed like a good filter to get.

I didn't realize K&N made oil filters but I do know that they make very good Air filters. They have put much research into their air filters and consistantly produce a good product. I would assume they would do the same with oil filters.
As for Fram, they are crap. They make way below quality oil and air filters... too bad... they were once a good manufacture of both.

ps. Advance autoparts is a joke when it comes to good auto parts and service they don't have a friggin clue... You should look elsewhere. ;)

ps.2... your wife is smarter than you when it comes to this subject, you should listen to her and then thank her for sharing her wisdom with you. :)

You don't have to look on the box. Use google and you can find the part number in 10 seconds. I'd use a Mobil 1 filter.

I haven't heard much about K&N oil filters so I'd like to know too. I use Wix filters in my cars.
