It used to be a Mercury sports car (late 60's early 70's) then they stopped production. They recently restarted production. To simplify it, it is a Grand Marquis with an older Mustang GT engine (DOHC 4.6 Litre). In reality it is much more than a Grand Marquis though.
Actually the Mustang GT uses the SOHC 4.6
The older one had DOHC.
No mustang GT has ever had a DOHC motor. The motor in your car is out of an older mustang Cobra :)

Ahh, you answered my edit. Thanks. I editted a post a few up when I realized I might have been wrong.

Uh, the Mustang GT has never had a DOHC 4.6. The Cobra has always had it since the SN95 incarnation from 96+, but the GT has always used a SOHC version of the 4.6

EDIT: Stupid notfred bastard beat me to it :)

Yeah I realized. I editted my post a few up before I knew notfred already answered me telepathically. Me = new Ford guy, so I'm bound to make a mistake or two.

Kids will either give up after a minute, or they'll pull hard enoguh to break them. I'd just get regular ones. You'd have to replace 10 sets before you paid for those, and it would suck if, say, you got a flat tire and couldn't find your wrench for those caps.

Why not just use plastic ones? I knew some kids when I was in middle school that like to steal the chrome ones, but I never knew a kid who was into stealing plastic ones.

She figured it out when they went grocery shopping and there was no money on her atm....

Thats a good point. So I guess I'll just get two sets from pepboys, and park closer in to where all the grounds workers work so that if anything fishy is up, they'll hopefully say something; or park far enough away so that they kids won't even bother.

Thanks notfred. I think I'm gonna run to pepboys in an hour so I can get like two sets of replacements.

What's wrong with the plastic black ones? To me a car is to get you back and forth and no more. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

To me a car is not just a machine, but an extension of you. Yes, it is a machine, but I like to take car of mine. yes, I could use black plastic ones, but the car doesn't look right like that.
That's awfully new age. I thought a car was metal and plastic bits.

As you may or may not know, I work for my local school district on the computers. So, I get home today and guess what, my tire valve covers are stolen. They aren't plastic black ones, but chrome. I called up the dealership, and to replace them for a Mercury Marauder is 25 dollars each, I don't have 100 to spend on valve caps. Does anyone know of a good Ford/Mercury part website that I can get these valve caps?

Cliffnotes: Had chrome valve caps stolen, pissed off, need a good website to buy them for my 2003 Mercury Marauder.

YOU OWN A MARAUDER!!!!! YOU IS MY HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it is possible for a car to be God, the marauder is that car.

It is beautiful, powerful (enough for me) and it is just awesome.

I lust after your car.

of all the cars on the market, the marauder is one of the few that would convince me to leave my '91 Sable at a junkyard/>1k used car lot.

Thanks for all the compliments. If your ever in the Long Island New York area, let me know. I'll take you for a ride. I definitely love this car. It is practical IMO. It is big enough to be comfortable, and hold passengers, yet can be fun to drive at the same time. It let's me "play" around (bad choice of word, but couldn't think of another way to put it) and be serious at the same time. My family has two of them (I drive a black one, and my dad drives a blue one). Definitely nice cars, and not hard to maintain the good looks of it. As I said, just let me know when you are in my area, and I'll take you out.

I already have done that. But, my mother is saying that if a kid wants them bad enough, they will try and rip it off, taking the tire valve with it. Do you think I should loosen them up, so that minimal damage will occur (the caps are 1.99, not a big deal), or leave them tight, so that the kid will break his finger trying to take them off? I have them tight so that you must use a wrench to get them off, or they are not budging.

I guess sooner or later you all will learn babies are not always the joy you think of them as. Oh well. Doesn't hurt me one bit.
