Argh!!!!!!! Today I drove to work like any other day, and my car was parked in the employees lot (rather than visitors lot). As you may or may not know, I work for my local school district on the computers. So, I get home today and guess what, my tire valve covers are stolen. They aren't plastic black ones, but chrome. I called up the dealership, and to replace them for a Mercury Marauder is 25 dollars each, I don't have 100 to spend on valve caps. Does anyone know of a good Ford/Mercury part website that I can get these valve caps?

Cliffnotes: Had chrome valve caps stolen, pissed off, need a good website to buy them for my 2003 Mercury Marauder.

UPDATE: Just went to Pepboys and got the chrome tire valve covers. Thanks for all the help, especially notfred. They were 1.99 for a set of 4 (got two sets). Thanks again.

What's wrong with the plastic black ones?

To me a car is to get you back and forth and no more. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

To me a car is not just a machine, but an extension of you. Yes, it is a machine, but I like to take car of mine. yes, I could use black plastic ones, but the car doesn't look right like that.

Any auto-parts store will have them.

BUT, news flash ... they're only going to get stolen again ...

It used to be a Mercury sports car (late 60's early 70's) then they stopped production. They recently restarted production. To simplify it, it is a Grand Marquis with an older Mustang GT engine (DOHC 4.6 Litre). In reality it is much more than a Grand Marquis though.

I plan too. Have them line up in hallway, then have there counselor search them. Afterwards, all the kids should get a lethal dose of gamma radiation to teach them a lesson.

Actually the Mustang GT uses the SOHC 4.6

Just one little story about the Ford parts department:

Last week I needed a new flywheel for my Mustang. I called ford and asked how much it would cost. They wanted $270.

Summit Racing sells the EXACT same part (genuine ford part - casting and part numbers on there, and comes in a ford motorsport box) for $99.

Generally you shouldn't buy parts from ford if you can get them elsewhere, it's too expensive.

The older one had DOHC.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, was it the older Cobra that had the DOHC?

actually i think its the motor from the current Mach 1 (which will probably be the motor for the '05 GT)

Thanks for all the help notfred. I know your a big Ford guy, so I trust you. Also, what about these valve covers? Someone reccomended them on the Marauder forums. They are keyed so if you don't use the key to lock/unlock them, they just spin.

No mustang GT has ever had a DOHC motor. The motor in your car is out of an older mustang Cobra :)
