My girlfriend in high school actually knew how to do this before I did. I manned up and learned really quick.

If you're going to drive that way, let the clutch out a little more rather than giving it more gas. Your clutch will go to hell if you're using it to hold the car at 4000rpm on every hill..

Yeah, but if he has poor left foot coordination it maybe easier to use gas at first. If he tries letting the clutch out he will most likely stall. Ideally you use both, but I don't think he's at that point.

Neither my family nor any of my friends' families own or have owned manuals, so I still haven't learned and probably never will. A bit of a shame, I suppose, but I'm alright with it. They sound like more pain than they're worth, especially for someone like me who isn't concerned with "having fun" driving.

if you can't handle hills after driving for a year, i think automatic tranny cars are your best bet, and also, please stay in the slow lane and pay extra careful attention when you drive...

...cause you are NOT a natural, let's just say that.

Most of this applies to me too.

I think the main reason I haven't really gotten hills down is because I've only driven the car 1500 miles over the past year :p I really haven't dealt with hills all that much in that limited mileage, so every time I do actually end up on one, it's a challenge. The fact I drive so little is also why I want to get rid of my WRX, due to the fact that I don't really drive all that much.
