1989 Plymouth Voyager ("Turbovan")

Broke off part of the key in my driver's side door testing a few copies that I made. Fvck. How do you remove it without replacing the whole damn lock unit?

is it entirely inside the lock, flush or is some sticking out?

very strong magnet?
dental forceps?
drop of super glue on the end of a paper clip?

just tossing out ideas.

Way up in there. In fact, in the actual fully inserted key position, and it's just the tip (first two pins). Tried the magnet/tweezers and failed. This key is non-magnetic.

How about calling a locksmith?

with good mechanical skills, you could disassemble the lock, taking out the pins if need be, then let it drop out.

Isn't soldering a piece of wire to the broken piece SOP?

(though that might require the end of the key being flush with the end of the lock...)

from the description of the problem, it isn't broken off where the key enters the lock (where they usually break), but actually inside the lock.

Yeah. I kinda rushed through making that copy, and didn't brush off the jaggies. One of those probably caught somewhere and fvcked things up.

does the other end fit in still? PUt some superglue on the end, shove the damn key in there, wait 30 seconds, and see if you can remove it. Worst case scenario....you gotta repalce the entire lock, but that looks to be the case now anyways!!
