umm put down the crack pipe... CRX 2200lbs, h22 will add another 100-200 give or take some. So maybe 2400lbs, h22 comes with 160lb/ft . Youd' probably do high 13s on good tires

You can run mid 13's in a EG/EK which weighs more then a CRX.

man, you guys are a bunch of hos. A correctly swapped civic is completely OEM quality/reliability. From a build quality/reliability/driveability standpoint, a swap is just as good as a stock car. All you guys jacking off to minivans, as a bonus you get crappy minivan handling/braking and creepy guy with a serial killer/rapist ride huh? In fact, I think it was on this forum some guy was talking about a lightly modded turbo dodge minvan running high 15s at the track. Oh baby that's speed right there.

One more thing to the OP. If you are still looking into this project, look into a k series engine. It's Honda's current series of I4s. They used to be expensive, but I think prices have come down. There are now kits which lets you swap in the new engines into older chassis. The current big thing is a K20/K24 frankenstein. Keep in mind that is just a mild build with stock internals.

I'd probably go the coupe route as the CRX engine compartment is just so damn small.

check this hatch out!
Wow, that is a really nice looking car.

Car: 92-95 Civic Coupe $2500

Engine option 1: 200HP H22A $2800
(requires engine mounts and custom shift linkage)
Engine Option 2: rebuild stock and add turbo $3300
Transmission: new flywheel, clutch & LSD $900
Suspension: Adjustable Coilovers $700
Brakes: new rotors, calipers and braided lines $1000
Exhaust: high flow no-fart cat back $600
Wheels and tires: $1000

Some suggestions; don't waste your money turboing stock SOHC engines. Buy the H22 and use the listed difference for funny fumes.

Also, you won't need to buy a new exhaust, just use the stock muffler, but take out the resonator and have a muffler shop redo the piping to mandrel bent 2.25" or whatever is best for the engine. It'll sound raspy, but you'll get similar gains, it'll cost you maybe $150 at most, and keeps a quiet look.

I never said to get a minivan I said get a turbo dodge or alteast some other already turbo charge car of which there are many to chose. BTW my lightly modded minivan should run low 15s and maybe high 14s :). No its not a speed demon but it sure if fun wasting the idiots in their riced out civics with it. I Just need to get around to installing some larger injectors and an afpr and I should be well into the 14s which is about all I want out of it. There are quite a few in the 12s too.

Spending $10k and in the end still having to drive a civic just seems weird to me. If I am going to spend any real money on a car its going to be RWD.

This guy is koo koo for crack, And you may be too. Why not get a nice car for like $3000 and put $5000 of parts into it. IMHO you will get a much better car in the end. Example 90's mustang Text

Just the engine upgrade is worth it. I mean its still a mustang but way better than the civic.

Eh, I like the civic. Never got into newer Mustangs. The one in the auction is probably worth about what the opening bid is, tho maybe a tad less. There's lots of expensive work in that car.

Spending $7700 to run 13s is idiotic. My car runs 13s from the factory and I bought it for 9 grand. And the big difference: My car looks like a $9000 car and your $700 car with $7000 under the hood is still going to look like a $700 car. But hey, yours is $1300 cheaper, that's worth the difference in price.

The big difference is people see your car and know it'll run 13's. People see $700 Civics and don't expect them to. I'm really hoping my car breaks into 14's when I take out to the track. I think I've got a pretty good shot at it. Again, nobody expects my car to be that quick.

EDIT: You don't really have to spend $7000 to get it that fast. His $7k included other mods as well. You could do just the engine work for under $3k.

true but the insurance cost of a 95 civic DX is immensely lower than a 95 Cobra Mustang. Also, the WAF is a lot higher on a Civic for its perceived practicality than it is with a Mustang.
