YACT: How much for a whole new exhaust?

From the catalytic convertor, all the way back?

Mine just broke off (again) so I just decided to take it in instead of welding it on again....

It's a '92 Civic with 248,000 miles on it 😀

They said $340 with a free oil change 😀 Is that too much? It's at Monro... Did I mention that I don't have the time to do it myself?

good god! 248000 miles?

it's nice. not quite the 318k I had on my cutlass cierra, but you're getting up there.

Anyway, yes, that's a good deal. Cheapest I could find for my 93' altima was 380.00 w/no oil change or special mugs 😉

Columbus Ohio, eh? If there are "Rainbow Muffler" shops down there, get a quote. I've never paid over $150.00 total for cat back installs on any car I've owned.

I saw a Civic with flowmasters yesterday. I don't know how the hell he did it, but it actaully sounded pretty good.

There's places around here that will do it for like $70. The place that did my exhaust on my last car (even though they fvcked up) charged me $130 to rip off my cat (even though I specially told them from the cat back), new 2-1/2" tubing, and a muffler. Be forewarned though, you will want to have backpressure on a 4 cylinder. Well... unless you want constant popping slowing down and your exhaust sounding like wwwwweeeeeeeeeeee BBBBBBBBBBAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

So could you explain how backpressure would cause such aural annoyances?

Also, why would you slow down without backpressure?

I didn't know Flowmaster made catback systems?

It was probably just a straight exhaust that he somehow ghetto rigged onto his car.

Edit: Looking at their website, Flowmaster does make exhausts for Civics 😕
