YACT: How does an engine swap affect resale value?

My dealer tells me they must swap out my transmission and possibly the engine. My service advisor said its pretty serious and the manufacturer actually told them to do all this. My guess is if they swap out the engine, whatever is on the odometer will no longer match what is actually on the engine.

How will this affect the resale value of the car? Chances are I will get a used engine. I find out tomorrow what will be replaced. BTW, its all under warranty none of it will come out of my pocket.

Is it under warranty?

If it isn't and you're paying for it, will they put another engine identical to what you have? Maybe if you want something faster this would be a good chance for a nice engine swap with something better

If it's new, do what M4H said. if it's used, just say "factory rebuilt engine" xxxxx miles since rebuild. or whatever.

What the hell did you do now Winston?? which car is this anyways?

Yea, I've seen the sticker before but I am wondering if that is a red flag when I trade in the car. Some weird feeling is telling me that this is like a scarlet letter.

Too many fvucktard drivers in Bah'ston ram into it.

BTW, I am kinda in the dark as to what is wrong. All I know is the service advisor said there is a really serious problem.

I doubt it would any in this case. I thought this thread would be about swapping out the stock one for something "better":D;)

Don't they have to tell you exactly what is wrong? I'd ask them for a detailed explanation, and if possible try talking to the mechanic working on your car and they tend to be more detailed and informative.

Maybe you can pay the difference and put in the 4.8i V8 into your X5. Now that would be fun. :)

Is it really that hard? Or maybe you're retarded? Read the motherfvckin original post before crapping out your stupid faster engine comments...
