Far be it from me to start another flame war between creationists and everyone else, but Im just looking for your opinions on how you think we got to be here. Im very much in favor of the theory where a random act of science made it possible for life with a couple strokes of luck inbetween then and now. But I also believe an "unconscious but powerful force" indirectly set things in motion for us early on with no intention of creating life, I think it just happened through blind luck. Plus as big as the universe is and as young as our galaxy is compared to others I'm not totally convinced there weren't/arn't similar instances in far off places we'll never know about. Thoughts and theories?

What do you do? And how did you get there?

Once in a Lifetime - Talking Heads
Remain In Light - 1980
  • And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful Wife
And you may ask yourself-well...how did I get here?

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money?s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

    And you may ask yourself
    How do I work this?
    And you may ask yourself
    Where is that large automobile?
    And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house!
    And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife!

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money?s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

    Water dissolving...and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Carry the water at the bottom of the ocean
Remove the water at the bottom of the ocean!

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money?s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

    And you may ask yourself
    What is that beautiful house?
    And you may ask yourself
    Where does that highway go?
    And you may ask yourself
Am I right? ...am I wrong?
    And you may tell yourself
    My god!...what have I done?

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money?s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

I'm just happy to have the opportunity to contribute absolutely nothing to this thread.
Does anyone know what the actual environmental impact of a pointless thread is?

"A random act of science" is an utterly meaningless statement, and illustrates the ignorance of those who say such things. Science is a process by which we seek to explain phenomena that we observe. This process is illustrated by the scientific method: Observe some phenomena, make a hypothesis as to why/how this phenomena occur, test the hypothesis via experimentation, and if the hypothesis repeatedly passes the experimentation, it becomes a theory. Theories are always subject to modification or to being thrown out entirely as new data is discovered, and the experimental results change.

There may be no creator, or

A creator may well have made a universe with natural laws that support the spontaneous appearance and evolution of life, then sat back to watch what varied kinds of life would develop on the billion billion worlds of the universe.

A creator may have [ directly ] guided evolution ("Intelligent Design")

A creator may have directly shaped / formed mankind from nothing or existing life as clay (Catholic / Christian belief, most other religions).

Who knows? As an agnostic I accept all 4 possibilities and realize science can never disprove the existence of a creator, only the necessity of one.
