Is this it?
That is most likely a copy of the factory service manual. I have several from Ford from my days as a dealership mechanic.

I think Roger was refering to the the Chilton/Motor DIY CDs, which really do suck.

Four ways to go about this ;

1)Go to school

2)Find a friend who is a tech and learn from him

3)Go out and purchase a good repair manual and learn from experiance

4)Find a job at a local delaership/gas station as either a vehicle prep or as an oil changer and have them send you to school and learn from others.

if you goto school for basic car maintenance (brakes/alternator), make sure you work on your car b4 the semester is over. that way, if you have problems, questions, u can ask the professor for help on your particular car.

Be quiet Quix 🙂

This thread is dropping awfully fast 😉🙂😀

Now if you found this term in the repair manual, what would you do?

Now if you had several repair manuals, you can use those as backups because the Chilton's and Haynes manuals are written for the beginner.

Ok Quix, let the cat out of the bag, did I get my point across ?

See what I am saying, it would be better to own all three 😉

I got your point early on, and I agree with owning the three different books.

But did you want the definition of the one-way sprag inside an automatic transmission or the other one?

BTW, I love all the english terms used in the Haynes manuals, it cracks me up. 😀

Good plan. That's about what I do except I ask my other friends first (mechanics).
