Was teaching daughter this (quick feet method) and not having much luck, turns out whe was in 3rd gear
You know, everyone says that but strangely that was the least of my problems. Somehow I managed to stall more on DOWNhill starts than uphill when I first started learning. Guess I was just being real careful every time on an uphill but not paying attention on downhill.Originally posted by: DainBramaged
It's great fun when you first learn how to drive stick.

dont any of you use the heel-toe method? you have your left foot on the clutch, the ball of you right foot on the brake and use your heel on the accelerator...thats how i learnt it...i thought it was the common way to do it?
That's what happened to me on the first day I got my car. Heh, revved before the light turned green, the guy beside must have thought I was trying to race him or something because he zoomed past me.Originally posted by: DEMO24

Whatever man, don't you have a hill-holder anyway?Originally posted by: Vic
Quick feet.
Plus... while your right foot is moving quickly from the brake to gas, let the clutch up just to the point where it will keep the car from rolling back, then be quick with the gas just before the engine stalls.

My '82 Subaru had a hill-holder, I find it hard to beleive that everything doesn't have them by now.
