Both mazda and the hardware store i went to wanted $48 AUD for a single H6 bulb, i can get a set of phillips 'xenon ultra bright/blue makes the coffee and sevices you sexually' H4 65/55w bulbs for $42 AUD, or normal ones for about $20 a pair.

Power rating is the same clearly, the fitting looks the same, but the bulb on the H4 is bigger and longer.

Aside from that, why on earth does a volume selling car use such a ****** obscure headlight bulb fitting?

Even if you could physically mount and connect the bulb, the lens and reflector were designed for whatever is different. Just get the right ones. Not like you have to replace 'em every month.

That's the same as my Zuk. I just bought 2 on saturday due to my foot slipping off the clutch. (don't ask) They were actually $11 each from autozone.

US-spec has different headlights. Far inferior to Euro-spec lights.

And even if he could have mounted the other bulbs, the filament would not have been in the same place and the reflector would create an unsatisfactory beam pattern. The design of the optics makes it crucial that the filament be in exactly the same place and orientation as the stock bulbs. Only the stock bulbs allow that placement.

DOT lenses compared to E-Spec, yes absolutely. Bulbs, no, DOT bulbs are very competent, at least these days. Still some differences, but lumen wise, we've really caught up.

Anyhow, a few places to check:
