Considering the new TL looks like a Pontiac, it's only appropriate that they share the same thread 😉

Actually, with the GTO selling at 33K, I fail to see a need for a TL, which is inferior in almost every way.

Well, one is a sedan...one is a coupe.
One is FWD, one is RWD
Not even close to being competitors...that being said, I'd take a G35 Coupe or 350Z over the new GTO. The GTO may be fast, but it makes me yawn when I look at it...not something you'd like to say about a performance car.

I think with cars like these, the reputation precedes the looks. So even if by itself it doesn't look fast, you begin to associate the look with fastness. It's like the Grand National. It may look like a boring POS Buick, but when you see one on the street, you know what's really going on 😀

Which is probably why I don't particularly care for the GN😉
hahahaMan, that old goat looked good.

Important thing to remember is everytime Pontiac tries to do aggressive styling they overdo it and it ends up looking retarded. I think they were absolutely right to recognize their weakness and not fix what isn't broken. Also, the holden Monaro is a fine race bred sports coupe. I would certainly like to see a G35coupe and a GTO duke it out on the racecourse. The GTO would 0wn the G35c, even if the G35c looks better. I like the G35c, but at 33K, GTO would be an easy decision.

Well, to me, performance isn't everything. And if I don't respect the looks of the car, a few tenths 0-60 or through the 1/4 mile means nothing to me on my 10 mile daily commute 😛

But a Camry isn't a balls out performance machine either and it doesn't aim to be.
Now a GTO is supposed to be a honkin' mother of a beast (at least IMHO). And what you get in return is a car that looks about as tame as a Camry SE V6. "IF" I were in the market for a $33,000 sporty car, I'd have to go visit Infiniti or Nissan instead.

The funny thing about the GTO is everyone was saying that they hoped Pontiac wouldn't make the GTO ugly. Well, the GTO has been left the same as the Monaro except for minor changes, and everyone calls it bland. What the hell?

Look at the Pontiac Solstice. That shows that GM/Pontiac can make, clean, original designs with some flair. The GTO has bland Japanese style written all over it.
Hell, if this car were to drop from the sky right now w/o any badges on and we didn't know anything about the Holden Monaro before hand, you'd all be calling it another boring Toyota/Honda coupe.
