TIP:

IF YOU DRIVE A DIRTY POS CAR THEN COPS/FIENDS/BAD PEOPLE WILL NOT NOTICE YOU AND YOU WILL BECOME INVINCIBLE ON THE ROAD.

FYI.

Man--that really sucks. I got a similar gash like that years ago when a car parked next to mine got towed!

Coincidentally, I was at Target today and saw the best key job evar! The bastard got EVERY SINGLE panel of the victim's car. Even though it wasn't my car, I would've beaten the shiite outta the vandal if I had caught him!

Doesn't look intentional... at least all the ones i've seen were a lot worse... and why the front? Just seems odd.

I'm inclined to agree with this. Perhaps it was someone who has his keys hanging on his belt-loop or something.

Happen to my bro's car last year. We took it to state farm and tried to claim insurance on it and they gave us cash to paint/fix it - about like 1500 for all 4 doors. Cool part was our rates didnt go up or anything :)

It's a Subaru, what's the base model? I think you have the Impreza, but I'm not sure.

I dont care how old the car is, how new the car is... keying someone's car is one of the lowest things a person could do. I don't even know you, but if I lived by the punks who did that I would help you kick their asses.

I feel for ya man. I just got a new car a month ago and it's already been dinged twice. And I park where there are no cars around for miles. People are inconsiderate, stupid or all of the above. It sucks. :|

It sure looks malicious damage. Accidental damage usually involves more impact and leave dents, busted headlight, etc behind. Not much accidents that can nicely scratch without putting any dent.

Does the scratch penetrate the metal at all? It looks pretty deep to me. I don't think the vandal used a key, but something made of hardened steel like a screw driver, drill bit, scissors or other tools.

Brass key can scratch through paint, but shouldn't be able to scratch sheel metal.

I have few nicks on my car too. One time I was getting in my car and this idiot parks next to me and opens his car door. Of course, he hits my car and sees me staring at him. All he can say is "Uhh that's what door guards are for". I should have rammed into the back of his car and told him that's what a bumper is for. :|

It seems like the scratch really penetrates the metal, it goes really deep, under the paint, cuz you can see in the first pic the "black" or "blue" thingie under the paint of the car. How much would it cost to get that fixed?

Luckily it looks like you have a plain old white car paint job...you should be able to find touch up paint at your dealer...

a good friend of mine has a ford explorer, and one night, when the neighbor was drunk, he came over and scratched a message in the car's side with his keys saying "why dont you park your aircraft carrier on your side of the street."
