YACT: Fuel injector cleaners any good? *And bonus pic*

Damn is this like a record for consensus of opinions on a YACT thread? I suppose if I asked "Will my car run on water instead of gasoline" I'd getmore similarity of responses, but I'm glad so many people have the same ideas about these 😀

I've never had good luck with fuel additives....(even though I try it first). I always end up pulling and cleaning the injectors.

BTW- beautiful engine! I gave my mother my 92 Sentra with 125K and all it needed was a clutch cable.

I use and tell my customers to either use STP Fuel system cleaner or Chevron Techron. They both have the same type cleaner that works very well.

I have been using this stuff for quite a while, and am happy with it: Lucas Fuel Additive.

I buy it at a local Napa store and it's around $4 for a 5.25 ounce bottle. I like all of Lucas's products and use their oil additive too.

Don't use oil additives.

Your oil is literally a witches brew of different additives. Oil companies spend perhaps millions of dollars in R&D. When you add something to your oil, you will upset whatever chemical balance there is within your oil. It just isn't a good idea.

If you're using an oil additive with PTFE(teflon), stop NOW. PTFE is a solid, and it has absolutely no business being in your engine's crankcase. Your oil filter is designed to remove solids, and it does exactly that. Your oil filter quickly collects all the PTFE particles it can.

Instead of screwing with your oil, focus your concentration on the filtration systems. Afterall, they are your first line of defense. It does not matter which oil you use, or what you put in your oil, if there are solid particles in it. This will much more for the life of your engine than any specific oil or additive.

Where can you buy chevron techron most easily? BG44k looks like the closest place is a state a way, so I'd like to get something local instead of ordering, if possible.

Chevron stations carry it. 😛 Most automotive stores will, too.

Lucas Additives I'd stay farrrrrrrr away from those lucas additives, it makes your oil foam up like crazy!

My old minivan has some kinda stalling problem, slow down after a highway run and it stalls. Gotta neutral drop the engine to keep it moving...(testing the durability of the crappy chrysler trannys....110k miles and still working..never changed the fluid....🙂)....put in a little fuel injector cleaner, a coupla high speed runs, and it seems to be working....the miracle of STP.
