Whatya all think getting the brakes done on my '65 Ford F250 will cost? 4-wheel drum (hence why Im having them done and not doing myself... disc brakes Id do in a secound, but drums, not to metion 4 of them can be left for the the pros...

When's the last time those things were pulled apart? You may very well need new lines, front to back, as well as the proportioning valve. Might as well do the master cylinder while you're at it. Wheel cylinders on all four corners... Um, I guess about $600.00. Couple hundred more to put the emergency brake in service.

Thats the prob dunno WHEN they were redone last time and I want to make sure they are done 100% right (so likley the MCs will be oinked too Im sure).

I know the emergency works fine (I use it daily).

If you can bust loose the connections at the wheel cylinders, maybe it won't be so bad. (That only matters if you have to replace a cylinder anyway.) I just imagined in Wisconsin, everything would be welded together with rust. NAPA doesn't list the drums, so they may be expensive. May be best to turn them if you can. With the spring pliers, you can handle the job. Just take apart one side at a time. Take pictures before pulling it apart. Prepare to buy new spring kits, and star wheels. You might have to back off the star wheels to get the drums off. Most likely you will.

Otherwise, it's probably $60.00 each for drums, $20.00 per axle for shoes, and a couple hours labor.

I did a complete brake system on a 56 Ford F250 two months ago and charged the customer $550 parts and labor, including all new steel brake lines.

Drum brakes aren't hard to do. I used to have a '68 chevy that I changed the drum brakes on. It's not so bad.
