Yesterday I got a flat tire, put donut on, go to Town Fair Tire.

Last summer I bought 4 new tires with their *lifetime guarantee*

However, they don't carry this *1 yr old* tire anymore, so the $56 I paid for it last summer gets credited to the new $65 tire that needs to be put on.

-I have to RE-BUY the lifetime warranty on the NEW tire for $6
-I have to pay for balancing $9.95
-I have to pay for the valve/old tire disposal charge $4.95

So the tire that is guaranteed to be replaced FREE OF CHARGE for my lifetime costs me $24.95

i guess i can somewhat see the labor charges, but to buy ANOTHER lifetime guarantee, cmooon...

/end rant

I've never been able to get any warrentee on any tire that I've ever had. Because to get it, it has to wear down perfectly flat, and given that I do alot of driving on back roads the outside always wears first. So I don't even look at warrentees anymore.

town fair tire's warranty states that any repairable tire will be repaired free of charge (mine wasn't repairable)

and

that any unrepairable tire will be replaced free of charge

i guess they dont tell you LABOR is extra and the lifetime warranty on the new tire must be purchased AGAIN :(

That all seem's fair to me.

I go to discount tire.... I bought $700 worth of tires (nitto nt-555)

two got destroyed when i back over this chunk of metal thing

Cost me $50 after all is said and done to have both replaced. I opted to re-buy the warranty.

Seems fair enough.

cuz it was 5 bucks

What do they define as lifetime though.....hamsters lifetime?......

I mean 10% of the tyre cost seems a damn good deal if they mean like lifetime of the car or something.

they define the lifetime as 65,000 miles if u bring the tires in to be rotated every 5k miles (this is apparently free as well)

OR

35,000 miles with no rotation done (at their place at least)

I love and hate town fair tires! They like to nickel and dime you, but their prices are very "haggleable."

Heh heh, it's 32,000 for my car. And the rear tires are already ready for the second go round and the fronts just got there. I wonder what'd cause wear like that... :D

that's pretty good if you get the rotation done regularly.
