YACT: Fastest acceleration for a 4 cylinder automatic under $25k?

JEDI

Lifer
I have a mazda3i 2.0L automatic. when i stomp on the gas, my head doesnt snapped back into the seat. 0-60 in 9sec but it feels like 0-30 takes like 6sec.

With my 1993 corolla 1.8L automatic, when i stomp on the gas, my head DOES get snapped back into the seat. i can really feel the acceleration.

nowadays, which 4cylinder car (automatic) under $25k has the Fastest acceleration?

edit:
ok, not v4.. meant 4 cylinder

maybe an Altima or Accord? aren't 4 cyl cars (for the consumer) mostly inline, not "V" shaped? I could be wrong.

Are there any massed produced V4's even on the market right now?
You mean I4, I'm sure 😉
Maybe flat four, even.

SRT4s aren't made anymore and they never came in automatic

the WRX in 2.0L auto was actually never that fast. high 15s or so, it does have a 2.5L now but still handicapped by 4 speed auto.

What about a miata. I'd say in a car as light as that, you'd probably feel the acceleration.

Are they making an SRT4 Caliber?

yes they are.

right now you could try a Solstive GXP/Sky Redline...
or
Cobalt SS
or
Civic SI
or
GTI
or
Mini Cooper S
or
any Saab w/ the I4 engine

For rolling street starts it's hard to beat the SRT-4. The new GTI w/ the 2.0T is pretty spunky though...and a lot more refined than just about anything else out there.

SRT4 is out, manual.
Sky Redline and Solstice GXP are out, manual and over the budget.

GTi 6spd AUTO w/ DSG would probably be your best bet.

I don't think they come in auto.

You're thinking of the R/T. The SRT-4 still isn't out. One of the major issues with the R/T is the CVT. The thing just sucks. But Dodge put it on both of the upgraded engines. I'm not sure of the SRT-4 version is getting the CVT or not.
