Both are at the top of their class and are very similar in stats/options. I think it ultimately comes down to personal preference and which one a dealer is more willing to move and if they have the exact vehicle you want in stock.

Traditionally, I have had better luck with Toyota dealers than Honda when it comes to getting what I feel is a reasonable offer without having to spend hour upon hour of negotiating.

I've had the exact opposite happen with Honda over Toyota. That's why I've owned 3 of their products. You can't go wrong with either choice though. Both are rated highly.

Not according to Car & Driver.

I think the jury ruling is that if you want something *that attempts to be somewhat sporty feeling* go for the Honda. If you want pure smoothness and don't mind some mushiness around the corners, go for the Toyota.

Agreed. Since it's a minivan I'd prob go the comfortable/plush route rather than "sporty".

I love my '99 Odyssey. It has great pickup, gets great gas mileage, and handles like a dream. It also has held up very nicely.... it still looks and runs like a newish car. :)

And it's still worth about 75% of what you paid for it. Which is a nice bonus.

I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Faced with the same decision I went for the Sienna. I don't regret it one bit.

My sister's 05 Sienna is VERY nice. Nice smooth ride, not too wallowy, plenty of power, TONS of room, very comfortable, and the seats are easy to move around. Lots of smart little things everywhere. I'm sure the Honda is just as good, as it's a brand new model as well. You really can't go wrong with either one.

That is a big yay!

And to speak on behalf of Toyota, my brother bought a 1986 Camry, brand new and fully loaded. After a few years, he gave it to my dad, and a few years after that, my husband had it. In 2000, right before my husband bought his 2000 Toyota Tacoma, it was still running perfectly. The air conditioning and the power windows were still working! We sold it for 1K to someone who needed it and would take good care of it, but we could have gotten closer to 2K for it, according to our neighbor who worked for a Toyota dealership.

Both tend to be very dependable, well made vehicles!
