Haha. You're a bit too excited. From my experience, VWs suck.
Our bug dropped it's tranny at under 100k miles. Quality, eh?
Yet there are hundreds of VWs still on the road from the 60's and 70's.

you are frickin dumb moron, you know an apr stage 3 turbo wont be left in there much if you dont know exactly how to use it. and just to let you know, i am talking through experience, i have far more mods than most people, probably including you, so stfu about suspensions and etc.

Why do mods decrease the resale value of a car? A few reasons: (1) it greatly reduces the number of prospective buyers because most car buyers are not interested in a modded car, (2) the public perception is that mods reduce the long-term reliability of a car (which is mostly accurate) and it is the perceived reliability of a car that most influences its resale value, and (3) the public perception is that modded cars were previously owned by younger drivers who probably raced and/or thrashed the car.
Most car modders know that in order to acheive the best resale value on their car, the best thing to do is to remove the mods and sell them separately, and return the car back to stock for sale.

edit: how many miles on it?

thanks for the support man, most people are not aware of the pressure that a stage 3 turbo kit puts on the engine. besides, as you mentioned, only a rich daddy's spoiled kid would pay more to a modified car.

Well, if I don't buy it the car gets repo'd and my grandfather gets screwed.

Sorry, I would have to disagree about modifications reducing the value of the car. Yes, less people may be interested, but there is a small niche of people who know what each mod is worth , etc..etc...hell go look at www.vwvortex.com.

Anyway, I don't know what I want to do. I am going to talk to my brother tonight about it, I am leaning toward no (because I know he won't go below 5k in his pocket). But it is really going to screw over my grandfather. I keep thinking that I could take that same 22k and get a really nice, near-new truck. I don't want to buy this car and take a loss on it if I decide to sell it in a month or so.

You might want to look at other forums than just vwvortex.

As for your brother, if he is so willing to screw over your grandfather will his financial mismanagement, then I think he deserves a good asskickin', but that's none of my business...

What I personally suggest is that you point out to your brother than he gets nothing, not one thin dime, when the car gets repo'ed. You, on the other hand, could take that $22k and buy a brand-new Jetta.

sorry, i would i have to disagree with you then. people that value mods will most likely mod their cars, they won't buy it moded. and as for vwvortex, most people there will call badgeless grills, headlight eyelids, smoked taillights, huge ass wings, and windows tints as modifying. probably only about %10 over there mod their cars properly and not for show, for improvement in performance/handling. sorry but this is the truth.

and for your decision, i think you are doing the right thing. dropping 22k on that car is (excuse me) nothing but stupidity.

I'll give you a YAY if you didn't pay $22,000 for it. :)

get your thread starter/ thread contributer right stoopid head! I just happen to be a VW fan and happen to be buying a VW this week JUST like the guy who started the thread. I see nothing in common between myself and the thread starter so I find your comment rude and out of place.

I'm paying 4400 :)
