Until I see I link, I call BS. Unless someone made the swap. A 2.2 liter in that tiny car is moronic, and I don't think Honda wouldn't do that.

LOL!! That's a good one. Tho, I have seen a mid-engined Del Sol somewhere or other (obviously not stock).

I think so. Insurance may or may not be an issue. Guess it depends on where you live. The Prelude is a larger car and I think its easier to live with. That Del Sol is tiny. You can hardly fit anything in it.

That was me. Prelude would be MUCH better. Although, I would rather go for a 3rd Gen Maxima (preferably 92-94) SE with a manual transmission :p

I'd definitely take a 95 prelude over a 95 del sol . . .

but as somebody mentioned before . . . 39k miles . . . only $6000- VERY suspicious. Might be salvaged. If it's not . . . then you better jump on it quick- it'll sell VERY VERY SOON.

Dude, find a 93 Civic hatchback, drop in a B16A2, have a decently speedy car, and room to work on it later if you decide to. That's what I would have done if I could have afforded a car when I was 16. If you're not into that, then yea, the Prelude is a much better car.

would it be outragious to get prelude in my price range? It does not have to be local, but I would still need to get it here with out spending a cr@pload

Here is a list of Honda engine codes, I don't see the H22A in the Del Sol/CRX section. You must have seen someone's modded Del Sol, and unless it was a pure track car, tell them they're stupid.

Yeah... mega BS on that one. I've seen CRX's modded for drag with turbo H22As, but I've never seen a Del Sol with one.

Back on topic, they're a chick car and it doesn't have much room, if you're tall it might be somewhat uncomfortable. They drive well, just small. Not a bad car at all.

No, you'd be able to afford a '92-'96 prelude on that budget, they're just hard to come by ;)

Yeah, I was gonna say it's sort of a girly car. So if your boyfriend doesn't mind, sounds like a good deal :p

On a serious note, yeah, that mileage doesn't sound right. See if you can get a VIN, and CarFax it.

Don't pay attention to that "chick car" crap. I think some people are insecure about their sexuality and really think the kind of car they drive has something to do with who they are.

Which model of Del Sol is it? VTEC?

Yah I never really got the chick car stuff except for the new bugs I dont really think of any car as a chick car. As far as the model I dont really know the specifics, I had just never heard of the model b4 and wanted to see what you guys thought.

If it is in good shape, it is a very good car which is supported by a large aftermarket community.

Look here for use car pricing. With a little patience you can find a nice car for $6000.

Like I said I am a n00b, but I am willing to learn, how hard would that be?

You'd want to get a shop to do it for you, unless you have someone around that really knows what they're doing, and has the tools to do so. An engine swap is no easy thing for a n00b. $1000-1500 for a decent hatchback with no engine, $2000-2200 for the B16A2, $1000-1500 for the swap at a professional shop. $4000-5200...not too bad.

Its not hard if you know what you're doing but certainly I wouldn't recommend a n00b start out with a project like that. Your parents would prolly freak anyway.

Good call, you were right. I've been lied to!!!!! However, the DOHC B16 looks pretty decent if you can find one.

Someone asked about the Prelude, that's an area that I can be of some help with (97-01), as I owned an 01 until recently. First off, the car is very comfortable. Second, it's very heavy. It'll never make a good racer, so don't bother. Even turboed out the wazoo, people have trouble getting it to break into LS1 Camaro territory.

Things to watch out for: 5spd transmission has weak shift fork, can be easily bent causing damage to syncros. Typically 4-5 syncro is damaged first, but feel for grinding in all gears.

Auto tranny can be unreliable. Some people have problems, some people don't. Personally, I think it's racers that have trouble, and just don't want to admit it (racing) I never had any inklings of trouble with mine. Typically, a failing auto will mis-shift and sort of fall into neutral for a while if you really lay on the throttle. Or make weird noises when idling in neutral or park.

Stock sound system is very good, especially in late years. If possible, find one with the 6 disc in-dash CD changer, or put it in yourself. It's truly great. Burn 6 80min CDs of your favorite music, randomized, then put the CD player on random. It's like your own radio station.

Leather was never a factory option on USDM cars. If it's got leather, it's aftermarket. So check the seats well, make sure the fit and finish is satisfactory. Stock seats are a cloth, usually black but there is a rare tan. The center of the seats has a weird pattern, horizontal lines down from top to bottom.

I can't recommend the Prelude enough as an every-day car. I miss mine. But a Corvette makes a better toy car. :)
