But why would you want to own any car until it's that old? Especially one so expensive to maintain like a BMW.

E36 M3s are awesome! They were everything an M should be. Light on it's feet, powerful, sporty. Before the days of the porky E46.

It's must easier to make an E36 M3 fast than an E46 M3. Check out the various BMW message boards and you'll find people who have both supercharged and turbocharged their E36 M3s into the 11 second quarter mile club.

Because the E36 series was in my opinion the BEST BMW ever produced. Get an M3 and you will fly even with stock everything..

Performance numbers are average to say the least in today's luxury sedans, but the feel of driving can't be matched

Oh, to answer your question, most BMWs last till 300,000 miles before serious problems as long as you do regular maintiance
