YACT: Does this price sound right for these repairs?

My wife's car (93 Plymouth Acclaim) wouldn't start yesterday so we took it over to the local Firestone dealer.
They quoted us $1130 with the tax for repairs. ($60 more if it needs another alignment)
He told us the following stuff needs to be replaced:

Valve Cover Gasket (Leaking Oil)
Plugs Cleaned or replaced
Wiring needs to be replaced
CV Joint needs to be replaced (May need to be aligned which is $60 extra)
3 external belts (Serpentine belt is dead)
Thermostat (Temperature gauge peaks and fan turns on to cool it off)
Cooling system flush out
Transmission fluid flush
Fuel injector service
Air Filter

Does this sound right? I don't know a lot about car repairs so I can't repair this stuff myself but on the same token I don't want to get "taken for a ride" by the service place.
Thanks.

Sounds high to me...

About the alignment.. does your car seem to turn to the right/left when you are going in a straight line?

Sounds like 25% of that is parts and 75% of it is labor.

You can't service a fuel injector... Not in any practical way. I mean, you can remove it, take it apart, clean it, and re-build it, but that's almost never necessary.

About the air filter, how much are they charging you for that? I know Advanced auto parts sells them for $6-11 and they install it for free.

My brother's got his cv boots and axle replaced with a reconditioned one for $165.

Seems kinda high to me, considering it probably took them about 2-3 hours to do all that.

Sorry to say, but you got gipped. What was the reason for the car not starting?

My wife says the car shakes and doesn't drive smoothly. She has trouble with the car shaking pretty badly at 65mph.

They are charging $15 for the everwear trans flush & treatment, then they have $45 for trans cleaner & conditioning labor, and $30 for transmission fluid up to 15 quarts.

The cv joint is $129.48 for the part (remanufactured half shaft) and $90 for the labor.

Just get the car fixed so it can start for now. Then find another mechanic around you and get another quote to see how much those other repairs would be or if they are even necessary.

How many Miles are on the car?

Car shaking at high speeds can be fixed with balancing. Where did you get your tires? Most places offer free balancing if you bought your tires from them. It should cost $15 to do.

Alignment is needed when your steering wheel isn't straight when your car is going straight. If you hit a curb most likely you will need an alignment.

The car has about 127,000 miles.
When she killed the one tire a couple of months ago they did a full alignment, and she got the tires balanced when she got a tune up a couple of months ago.

They're taking you for a ride.

Tell them to just get it started, and you'll be back later when the CV joint needs to be replaced.

None of that stuff has anything to do with the car not starting.
With the possible exception of Plugs and Air Filter, although neither one of those should have changed drastically since yesterday.
This is one of the reasons that I really dislike Firestone, Midas and the rest of those similar chains.
You really need to find a local, reputable repair shop. It may not be the easiest thing to do, but ask your friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. and find someone that you can trust.
