YACT: Did I get a good deal?

Some of you might remember me posting a few times about car related questions... well I went for the mazda3.

I got an '06 with 13100 miles (warranty still left on vehicle for 32 months and ~37k miles) from a lexus dealership that took it in.

- 5 door hatchback
- Sport model (lowest of three packages)
- One owner
- automatic with tiptronic shifting
- sunroof / 6 cd changer
- dark tint from previous owner
- keyless entry
- Silver paint
- Interior and exterior looks immaculate. Hardly any wear and tear.

--- $16037 Out The Door price.

I am to finalize the paperwork tomorrow and pull the trigger, officially.

What do you guys think? Good deal or what?

ps... lol I did the computer hack on the spot and unlocked the mpg feature while I test drove it.

Thanks for the input, all... feel confident about the purchase now.

One OT question, though. Will the warranty be void if I unlocked the mpg feature?

I doubt it, but I'd check with Mazda first. Good deal too, it's a wicked nice car. My wife has Protege 5, and when it was in the shop we had a little Mazda 3 sport as a loaner, I absolutely LOVED it.

That's good to know. I didn't want to like the car too much when I test drove it... but I gotta say for the price... I am liking the little ah heck a lot.

Howie Mandel says "you made a good deal." 😀
Seriously, that's a nice price out the door. Similar to what I have, except for the tranny and the touring package.
What is this computer hack you speak of?

is this the 2.0 or 2.3 liter?

in US, hatchback must = 2.3

Oooh, looked it up. It's awesome. Didn't know about it. Just another example of how this car manages to keep surprising you at how good it is. Now if only there was a hack for the 118mph fuel cutoff.
Here is another cool thing. The back part of the floor in the trunk folds up to create two compartments in the trunk. So you can keep the stuff you don't frequently use hidden, while having a more rugged, deeper frequently used area. Kind of like the new Sentra. Also, a mountain bike fits in fully assembled with the rear seats folded down. The car can be thrown into very fast corners with no drama. Even if it slides, it is so progressive, neutral and controllable, it's as if it's not even sliding. It is simply amazing in the handling department considering how little it gives up in ride comfort and how much it costs.

I love the look myself. I guess it's not for everyone, but to me it looks awesome. I like how the rear fenders flare out from the cabin and the organic shapes of the sheetmetal. You don't see it enough in new cars, it's all weird looking "modern art" shapes out there, I think Mazda3 stands out as more classy than its class. At least for me it does.
