YACT: Cheapest way to register / insure car for very infrequent use?

So, I have a car that I don't drive much, <100miles a year. But I guess I'm an idiot because I pay for insurance (bare minimum I can get, they have me on the cheapest, etc) and to register it every year so it costs like 5-600/yr just to sit most of the time. Is there a better way to keep it legit for road use but pay less than full amounts?

Car is 12yr old (1992) B4C (Police) Camaro--so it's not an antique... and it's not worth much to other folks (at least from what I've seen on Ebay). But it's mine, and, well, I don't want to get rid of it.

I do drive it occasionally. Otherwise it's in the garage.

So, any good ideas on saving some dollars?

Don't insure or register. Outrun any cops who try to pull you over.

I go through a lot of break pads, and gas, but if you don't mind all the honking it's doable.

I have more than one car. I work from home. My wife also has a car. She is a stay-at-home mom. Between the 3 cars and 2 people we don't do a lot of miles.

Yep, we do, but it's still like $5-600/yr for the 3rd car. I'll keep paying it if that's the way it is, but, figure there might be a better option.

I probably wouldn't either. I'd keep it garaged and just play the odds every time I take it out.

You basically don't drive it. I wouldn't keep it insured!

if you drive it like ... only in the summer .. or only during a certain part of the year ... you could only insure it for part of the year ... maybe save 1/2 to 3/4 of your insurance payments on that vehicle ...
