I know of a few Mustang forums..but you didn't want one of those.. 😛

Btw -- you may find some V6 Accords, but I do believe all Civics are 4-bangers (well..stock, anyways).

Look for a late 95 on up V6 camaro (or Firebird). Has the 3.8L V6 that puts out 200Hp but gets pretty good gas milage. You can also find these with 5 speeds.

Just some number for comparison:
325 -

2.5 liters

Horsepower: 189 hp
Torque: 181 ft-lbs.

19 mpg / 28 mpg (City/Highway)

Weight: 3087 lbs

Stick with your first chose. Those nissan engines are one of the best around. If I had the 5k I would go one of them.m2cw🙂

Ok a Nissan 240SX isnt' a V6. It is slower than a 95+ Maxima, but it is more fun to drive than a Maxima too.

Check out Maxima.org Forums for specific info.

Ah, very true. I forgot to mention that. That's why I was looking at the Maxima over the 240SX. I'm also not too big a fan of the hatchback because I want this to last me for a while and would like the car to be semi-spacious.

Thanks for the link!

Hatchbacks give lots more room. With the back seats folded down and rope to hold the hatch down you have more room then the average pickup.

I'm still gunning for one if I can find it in my area 🙂 There are only like 5 Maximas (w/ manual anyways) for sale within 100 miles of the Chicagoland area and the West Lafayette area. I thought they'd be much more readily available. I still haven't been able to go to dealers yet to ask around though since I'm still in school.

I was hoping to get a 4 door. I meant room like seating and trunk space, not just in general. Sorry, I forgot to clarify that. I want to keep this baby around for as long as I can 😀

I've mostly been looking at the 92-94 Nissan Maxima SEs as a viable option.
I was going to say that and not just because I'm a Nissan fanboy. I am huge on import cars and i can't think of many that are available in V6 with a manual in your price range that will be relatively new and reliable but that does fit the bill.

Manual maximas are a bit harder to find. I had a time finding mine since most people prefer autos. For what it's worth my 93 sentra has been a dream reliability wise. I've had it 18 months and put about 24k miles on it with only some small problems with it and it's still going strong.

I found one that's a steal but it's in Lousiville, KY 🙁

It was $3795 for '93 Maxima SE , 150k miles, 5-sp manual. It was almost $800 under KBB. If I had actually had a car to get there in the first place, I just might snatch it. It's only 180 miles from here and 330 miles from home....

Comes in V6 and V8 displacements in either standard or auto; convertible, ttopped or hardtop!

For just under $5k you can get a fully loaded Z28 or IROC with under 80k miles easily.

No V6 for the Camaro. If I remember correctly, the 3rd Generation (1983-1992) came with a 2.8L V6. With the weight of the F-Body being towards the heavier side, it'll feel like a slug.

Remember to get somebody to look it over for you if you can! A nissan mechanic at $65/hour give or take will charge you about an hour and should give you a sheet with some info on the car and how various parts of it check out.
