wrx sedan.

its the last year of this model, next years base wrx will be 2.5l, so hopefully this drastic change equals insane incentives at the end of the year 🙂

what would you get?

Something 1-2 years old, 20K will buy you something real nice like a G35, IS300, WRX, CL Type-S, BMW 3-Series, Audi A4, look around a little before buying new

I've had the VR6 model for 3 years now, and I am in love with it
Very fun drive. It has great handling, comfortable seating, and lots of storage space
Thx for the input, but I forgot to mention it had to be nice looking 🙂
I want something sporty looking. I don't like the boxes (aka scions/focus/whatever you just linked me to)
ya, well .... only nice looking people can drive it, so that leaves your entire family out
😛

I love the GTIs!

I would go with a Mazda 6, Mazda 3, or Civic.

I often wonder why young people like to buy a car that exceeds their income, and their car payment ends up being most of their paycheck. For instance, I know plenty of kids who buy a new car when they're making only $6-10/hr.

Those things are badass. 😀

If you want an econobox, get a Civic. IMO, get an 05 before the new (uglier) 06s show up. 😛

Most of the time, it's the fact that their insurance equals or exceeds their car payment that kills them. 😛

Hmm...is SRT-4 qualify for the employee discount?

Edit: SRT lines don't qualify...

Tell me about it, I know a kid that got laid off, then while he was jobless, traded in his '95 civic for a bran new, $28,000 Jeep Rubicon, which I'm guessing he'll never offroad in

In order of preference, if I was looking at getting a new "fun" ride for $20k or under:
#1 '05 Mustang V6 - 5spd manual...can be quite fun (enough torque to make it peppy) - the aftermaket is huge, only con's I see its that it's pretty much a 2-seater...the back seat is a joke.
#2 '05 Scion tC - nice looking, nimble, customizable, Toyota reliablity
#3 '05 Saab 9-2x Aero - usablity of a wagon, AWD, like buying a WRX but getting it cheaper with the GM employee pricing + rebate
#4 '05 Hyundai Tiburon - looks good - much improved reliablity.
...that's about it ...good luck with whatever you get! 😀

i love my mazda3 5 door - been great on reliability and gas mileage and i can put a ton of stuff in it w/out any trouble!

TTT

Oh, and as for me being young and getting a new car, ive got a decent reason. If I do this I can give my current car (2001 dodge stratus) to my little sister. Im the only one whose driven it so I know it will be reliable for her, it only has 50k miles on it. Also I have like 3k saved up in the bank, and with how much I usually make a week I know I can afford it. On top of that, its only money. Ya I know money is important, but sh!t you only live once... Why not? 🙂

Something like these:

Car 1

Car 2

Car 3

Car 4

ZV

EDIT: To be clear, these are the cars that I would buy if I had the 20K. I do _not_ recommend them to anyone who isn't willing to make the requisite sacrifices to keep them maintained properly. And yes, there will be sacrifices.

Im not even old enough to drive yet, however I did no a thing or 2 about cars.

Currently the Scion TC( Pic here )

Is currently the best bang for your buck.

30mpg highway, about the same for City.

Awesome Pioneer sound system and CD/stero. AC, neat dash board..

Very realible as well.

Its just like the Toyota Celica (Same parts) except its 15k cheaper.
The Scion is supposed to replace the Celica in the coming years..

The design for the car is just great....

There is the Accord..but meh...everyone has an accord.

the 97' boxter seems like a good deal. it's a bit old but it's S2000 money for a prosche.
