well 2 weeks of sitting would take most of it's toll on the battery.

that's likely your weakest link.

Doesn't sound like the battery to me.
This is what I get from your description.
You hook up jumper cables to your battery. ( I assume from a good battery) Nothing happens.
The good battery should supply enough power to to run lights etc, if not start the car.
Since it doesn't, the first thing I would do is check and clean your battery cables. Make sure they are tight.
